Remember.... the Wild Card game will be played on a Tuesday, and the CUBS are 15-9 (.625) on Tuesdays.

Go CUBS !!

Pretty sure it's on a Wednesday

God I hope that's right. I teach on Tuesday nights. And they're giving speeches so it's not like I can give them an "out of class assignment" instead of holding class.

October 7th is a Wednesday

OMG !!! That changes EVERYTHING !!!

The senility is setting in.

I googled what day of the week October 7 1915 was to make sure he wasn't mixing up his centuries but that was a Thursday

Cubs have just eliminated the Padres. Three to go.

Also, as of the latest fangraphs projections, the Giants and Nationals project to end the year with 85 wins. Today the Cubs won their 85th game.

I'll leave this here too, but Kang's injury was basically worst case scenario:

Christ that sucks.

If the pirates feel the need to retaliate they are free to put Coghlan on base ahead of Rizzo and Bryant as much as they like.

Sucks. Wasn't he like their 2nd best hitter statistically this year? Hate that it happened, and I don't think his absence dramatically affects the odds of winning the Wild Card game.
Posted
He was definitely one of their best and definitely in the mix for NL ROY. Hate to see the Cubs odds improve due to something like that.

In the mix to finish second for nl roy you mean.

Terrible for Kang.

Anyone who thinks that was a dirty slide just needs to watch Matt Holliday highlights and reevaluate.

I've been thinking this all day, yet over on Redbirds Coghlan is been vilified as some kind of monster, and is a racist according to one poster.

This sucks for the Pirates and Kang, but he really put himself in a bad position.

What I'm afraid of is the over-reactionary and unenforceable rule change that will likely follow in an attempt to protect middle infielders.

IMO I think it's fine if they legislate even harder to eliminate the take out slide, though they've made efforts already. It's just a weird archaic refuge of a previous baseball time. Baseball shouldn't be about destroying other people's bodies for success.

That's football

Fair enough. Just thought when Fred spot starts and says "Win lose or rainout" and suggests the guy who missed it starts the next game regardless was the law of the land.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way it works..... but this time around I didn't say that. Instead, since it was almost CT's turn anyway, I let him go with. So instead of CT following you, you'll follow CT.

Copy that

Jeez

Jung Ho Kang is expected to be sidelined for the next 6-8 months after undergoing surgery on Thursday to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee and a fractured left tibia.

That means with even the most optimistic of projections, he'll return midway through spring training and is likely to miss the beginning of the year. The most likely scenario has him returning a month or two into the 2016 campaign.

Completely agree. Baseball players don't know how to do physical. Let them try to hit dongs and leave it at that. The legal takeout slide is a dumb thing.

One thing I noticed, it looked like to me at least, and I haven't seen it mentioned, is that Coglan's kneecap hit Kang's kneecap. It was a fluke. Have seen this in basketball as well.

It definitely was just bad luck, mostly due to Walker's shitty throw and how Kang planted, but Coghlan's is basically Public Enemy #2 in South Korea now.

Coghlan is racist coated injury intentionally try to tackle the Asian players. This albino villain must be removed from the MLB.
