New game in less than 3 hours, so treebird is still da worst. Perhaps the most crucial game in the Wild Card race to date, as it leaves them either 2 or 4 back.

Go Cubs.

I almost gave La Stella a compliment with his well struck ball into right field and then he got thrown out at 2nd. (It was totally not his fault, it was an unbelievably good play and throw by Marte)

Good lineup. Smack em up.

treebird owes us a photoshop history of something for abandoning us when we need him the most.

Love this early start, can catch most of the game before heading to Arrowhead to tailgate.

Let's keep helping the Cards win the division! No seriously.

I'm imagining a parody of that "footprints" story where it's 2 sets of footprints and then 1, and then a dead body at the end or something. MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Just to make sure I've got this right: If the Cubs and Pirates end the season tied, home-field for the 1 game play-in would go to the best head to head record, yes?

Yes, now what if the season series is also tied? Not that it would happen, because if the Cubs catch the Pirates they would almost for sure have a better head to head record.

Correct. So we'd have home field if we tied unless some weird scenario happens where Pittsburgh wins the last four games against us but then basically loses every other game.

-The team with the best record in head to head play.

-The team with the best overall record in intradivision games.

-The team with the best overall record in intraleague games.

-The team with the best record in the final 81 games of the season, ignoring interleague play.

-The team with the best record in the final 82 games of the season (provided the game added is not between the tied teams), extending backward until the tie is broken (Interleague games are skipped and ignored in this process.)

They play 19 times. There won't be a head-to-head tie.

EDIT: well, I guess they could have a rainout and only play 18 times and end up tied and MLB would not make them make it up to determine HFA. But that would again require the Cubs to lose all "3" remaining games against them and somehow catch them. Not happening.
