Don't mean to [expletive] on the parade but assuming a win in this one, if the Cardinals go 12-13; which is very unlikely given their pace, and finish 99-63, the Cubs would need to go 20-6 just to force a one game playoff for the division. And then even if this all happens, you have the Pirates ahead of you. I think focusing on the Pirates and getting the home field for that Wild Card game is way more realistic at this point.

If the Cardinals play .500 for all their remaining non-Cubs games, they'll have won 97 games, not counting the 5 remaining against the Cubs.

The Cubs have played at a .653 pace since the all-star break. If they continue that pace for their remaining non-Cardinal games, they'll have won 93 games. Not including the 5 remaining against the Cardinals.

I think you can fill in the blanks here.

Win the play in game and I like our chances in a five game series against these guys.

I don't think you filled in the right blanks there.

Algebra is hard.

I think it's Edwards time.

I see no reason to take Haren out of the game.

Twitter said he was warming up.

Meh, it's hard to imagine a lower pressure environment to debut in, but it's not like there's a reason to save Haren's arm at this point.

Once he got that first hitter jitters out of the way, I think Edwards looked pretty good. Put the ball in the zone and got weak contact.

Cardinals announcers are saying Wainwright will be back this year.

Those must be some really, really good super secret 'roids they've got. There's no way he should be back this year. I hope he tears the damn thing again if he does come back. And that's not something I'm prone to say seriously.

I had no idea he looked like he was 6 years old

Kid's already a star.

What happened? Gameday broke.

Edwards threw the 8th, 4 pitch walk, 5-4-3 GIDP, 4-3 GO

Not an inspiring start for a guy whose major concern is walks.

Dude's allowed to be a bit nervous.

Pretty sure I remember him saying he was extremely nervous in his first spring training start, so I could only imagine today (even if it's a blowout).
