Not sure if this should go in this thread or the other Hawks on but report out of Buffalo says Kane is expected to be at Blackhawks training camp when it starts Friday

There was one report from TSN that everyone picked up and reported that way, but in reality, the TSN guy just said that there's no reason he shouldn't be at camp Friday.

Believe me, I TOTALLY understand people being disgusted with what they assumed happened (and, let's be honest, probably did happen) and get sick of the moron fringe victim blaming (which is disgusting) and whatnot, but does anyone else feel that guys like Bernstein and The Committed Indian are going too far with their "Kane needs to go" and "I can't believe the franchise wouldn't ban him from all events" stuff?

The Committed Indian, in particular. Those guys are mopping floors somewhere and watching at the UC with 7,000 of their closest friends if it isn't for the renaissance of this team, which Kane has arguably had as much influence on as anybody, and they're completely playing the woe is me card and writing stories about how it won't feel good if the Hawks win with Kane on the team when 6 years ago they would have probably taken a team full of criminals if it meant winning just 1 Stanley Cup.

Like I said, I understand the sentiments about Kane, but all of it just seems a bit over the top before the situation resolves itself.

Not really. This whole thing feels real dirty to me. If you switched out Kane's name for somebody like David Backes, what would the majority of Hawks fans feelings be towards that? They'd be calling the guy a rapist, calling for him to be suspended, etc. But because it's one of their guys, they're looking for every excuse imaginable to continue rooting for the guy.

I understand most people are going to look the other way when he scores a big goal or pulls off a ridiculous move in a shootout, but I'm not going to be able to do that.

He's right....it won't feel as good if Kane isn't full cleared, and is still winning titles with this team. It'll feel icky.

I'd take a team full of criminals if they were robbing convenience stores, but this is rape we're talking about. Beat up any cabbie you want. Don't rape.

I can't get behind the notion that he should be gone immediately and should never wear a hawks sweater again, but he should never be admired again.

Yea this is where I'm at.

And I won't pretend that in the heat of the moment during a big goal I'm not gonna cheer most of the time still, but I can at least never wear his shersey again.

All excellent points. And, right after my little rant, CI put out their most well balanced take on the whole thing yet. This is just about perfect summary of the events surrounding training camp. http://thecommittedindian.com/camp-roster-gaga/

Based on what we know now, this is pretty much exactly how I feel.

I just hope it's not one of those situations where the fan base ends up adoring a criminal (or accused criminal) more than they should because everyone else hates him.

I'm thinking of people like Barry Bonds and the Giants or Ray Lewis and the Ravens

WTF dude. Do not compare Bonds with those situations.

Sorry I was more using examples of widely hated players embraced by their home teams, but yeah I shouldn't lump Bonds in with those 2

Bonds raped those baseballs.

Now someone link to that minor league forum thread.

Sure, lied about PED vs. murder and rape. PRACTICALLY THE SAME THINGS.

ONLY ONE IS A FEDERAL CRIME

Anyways, the point still stands minus Bonds. I hope the Hawks fans don't give Kane the Ray Lewis treatment

Whoa Barry bonds is an all time dirtbag who is basically ray rice on steroids when it comes to beating his wife unconscious. His wife testified that he beat her repeatedly and at least once when she was 8 months pregnant so yea bonds is no good and probably worse.

wow

this is not how I would have envisioned this press conference

i didn't see any of it, but i found kane saying he'll be "absolved of having done nothing wrong" amusing

Mark Potash asking him if he'll quit drinking, and Kane not answering was also a quality moment.

There's no good answer he can give to that question. If he says yes it acknowledges a drinking problem. If he says no he's refusing to acknowledge a drinking problem.

DNA evidence does not confirm a woman’s allegations that Patrick Kane raped her, four sources familiar with the case told The Buffalo News.

DNA tests taken from a rape kit conducted on the woman showed no trace of Kane’s DNA was found in the woman’s genital area or on her undergarments.

is that about the best that could've been hoped for as far as some sort of evidence coming out that could make you think he's innocent (rather than just being found not guilty or not being charged)?

DNA results are in. No traces of Patrick Kane DNA! [expletive] yeah! Innocent until proven guilty.

Might want to tap the brakes there.

Yeah, it doesn't prove innocence.

That said, like David said, it's probably the closest thing we'll get to proof of innocence, and probably means that most fans are going to give him a free pass.

Kane probably doesn't even need settle now. It's a case that prosecutors are probably going to be very hesitant to pursue.
