This is now not only officially a Law & Order "ripped from the headlines" episode; this is officially a [expletive] crossover between the mothership, Criminal Intent and SVU.

If it was an SVU episode, it'd be too unrealistic.

Stabler would have already punched through, like, six walls.

@SWhyno

Hamburg Police says in statement that its handling of evidence and chain of custody "is unassailable" in Kane case.

Seriously? Then how did the evidence end up on the doorstep? Are they saying its fake? Because if its not fake, there is definitely a hole in their handling of the evidence, whether a fellow cop did it or someone else.

Unless "handling" doesn't mean someone else breaking into the evidence room and stealing it. "Handling" is just what the people who were supposed to have the evidence did with it.

Who goes through a dumpster and finds a tampered with rape kit, and then delivers it to the mother of the victim? How many people even know who the victim is? How many people know who the victim is and knows where her mother lives? Why would someone just toss a rape kit into a dumpster where it could be found at all? How does the person who found the rape kit know to go dumpster diving to look for one?

Forget Law and Order and SVU. It's time for a new season of True Detective.

Bad cop tampered. Good cop heard about it and delivered it to the mother of the accuser?

Is it also possible that they wrote her name on a rape kit, forgot to seal something inside, tore it open and then sealed it in a new envelope? That would explain the torn envelope ending up in the trash. It doesn't explain why anyone would dumpster dive for it though.

Who is they "they"? Why would they be so stupid?

You can't tell who they is from the context?

I meant the person administering the kit accidentally forgot to seal something in the envelope so that person tore it opened and put everything in a new envelope. Maybe they threw it in the trash thinking that it wouldn't be worth noting that they threw away the empty envelope.

You can't tell that I wasn't sure? Didn't know if he meant the nurse or who stole it.

Now Kane's lawyer is saying there was a mixture of DNA below the waist from people not named Kane.

Fairly certain the victim's lawyer had just said that rumor wasn't true towards the end of his Q&A. Pretty sure someone asked "are you denying that there was multiple men's DNA found?" and he said they were in fact denying.

I don't know what's going on. That seems fairly obvious to answer.

All Kane's lawyer has to do is make this messier and messier. The more that facts get obscured, the easier it is for Kane to walk. And that's his job here.

So far, he's doing a pretty damn good job.

Would you put Kane being involved in stealing the rape kit past him?

Uh, yeah, pretty sure Patrick Kane himself didn't steal the damn evidence envelope. What the hell are you even talking about.

Involved doesn't mean doing it himself. Maybe paying or talking to a cop. Wasn't he paying one to be his bodyguard already?

People use police officers for security all the time. If tampering or whatever actually occurred I'd think it would likely be someone doing it thinking they were helping him as opposed to being ordered to do so by Kane or his lawyer. I mean, yeah, Kane seems like a raging moron of the highest order, but I don't think he's a COMPLETE monster of stupidity.

To what end? Render evidence that helps him in court inadmissible?

We don't know what the rape kit said yet, only Kane's attorney's claim
