Personally I disagree with the idea that most of them are bad people. Some of them are, sure, just like any large group of people, but the main issue is how much they've been able to get away with. That's what's hopefully changing.

It's hard but not impossible to separate the product from the producers.

I love Chinatown and Midnight In Paris. Just gotta tune out that cognitive dissonance. You won't be able to enjoy the Hawks as fully as before, but that's true of everything the older you get.

It's a really sad and depressing situation in general. For as long as I reasonably can, I'm just going to really, really hope he didn't do it. Not that he doesn't get charged, or doesn't get suspended, or the charges get dropped, or whatever....that he actually didn't do it. If you guys want to say he's a serial rapist who throws sex parties all the time, go for it.

You probably should just go ahead and admit defeat on that one. Based on all of the verified accounts of his "partying" over the years and life of entitlement, there's a FAR better chance that something happened than not. Still probably a pretty slim chance he faces a complete career-killing punishment over it due to his built-in advantages ($$$, fancy lawyers, the overall worldwide rape culture, likely lack of 100% damning evidence, etc...), but in everyone's heart of hearts, they know something shady happened and that it's probably closer to the worst case scenario than the best case scenario.

Maybe I'm just ignorant on his "partying" habits but just because someone likes to get hammered all the time & bang tons of chicks doesn't make them a rapist.

And if those rumors are true I feel bad for Kaner. But in the end he put himself in the position for this to happen.

I use to work out with a guy who claimed he was connected. He was definitely a bookie and also sold steroids from the gym. Anyway, he claimed that point shaving was rampant in all sports. He said that they preyed on the jock's sense of entitlement and tendency to put themselves in these types of situations. They would set up the jock and blackmail him from time to time to try to influence the outcome of a game.

I'm not saying what the guy said is true, the post just reminded me of what the guy told me.

But in this case, Kane is the product as one of the two faces of the franchise. I can ignore the director and appreciate a movie for what it is a lot easier than seeing Kane's grinning face on my TV and rooting for good things to happen to him.

Not only will I not be able to enjoy the Hawks as fully as before, I won't be able to enjoy them at all.

Callers on 670 the last 5-6 days have been especially bad

How is that different from normal?

The callers are almost always dumb. Now they are dumb and pro-rape. Dan even snapped at stannis's relative, who had one of the better calls.

Bernstein snapped at a DCFS investigator in a discussion about a sex crime? I haven't been listening since this story broke mainly because I know I'll get tired of the callers and the dead horse beating that they'll compel Bernstein to engage in.

His "partying" has included choking some girl in public during the Madison debacle a few years back, that's why I referenced it. A ton of guys drink a lot and bang a lot of chicks, but he's not only on the higher end of that spectrum, but has been entitled his whole life, and shown violence toward women publicly while drunk, that's why I mentioned that.

If we're going to discredit every piece of information that has leaked out over the last couple weeks, I don't know if it's really fair to accept the choking story (don't think anything legal ever came from that) as fact.

This is a good article that I generally agree with on this: http://sports.cbslocal.com/2015/08/12/bernstein-avoiding-confusion-in-kane-discussion/. A lot of people, athletes or not, go out and drink way too much and hook up with a lot of people. A vast majority of those people do not rape someone. To say the first leads to the second is a stretch. We were all ok with Kane's general behavior, at least to the point of cheering for him and the Hawks (which is really the extent of being a fan anyways) until two weeks ago. If he raped someone....everything changes. But we don't know yet.

But along those lines, the vast majority of partying athletes don't even manage to have Kane's reputation. Lumping him him as just another athlete who likes to party requires glossing over a LOT.

He's not getting exonerated.

Unless you just mean not charged or acquitted. But there will be no declaration of innocence.
