I am legitimately sad to see Junior Lake go. He was usually pretty bad, but sometimes he was incredibly good.

That's the best eulogy I have for his Cubs career.

good night sweet prince :(

I came to post exactly this

Goodbye Junior Lake, you were good for a couple months, and then horribly, horribly bad.

At least now people wont clamor for him in Game Threads because he's "athletic"

To add Hunter, Ben Rowan was DFA. What was your favorite memory of the Ben Rowan era?

that his name always reminded me of the legendary rob bowen

meh. what could possibly explain this?

Eh. I get it, but eh. Another former Rangers farmhand to our setup crew (Ramirez/Grimm/Strop).

Watching him pitch the last few years was frustrating at times. When he's on, blistering stuff, hard to hit, he'll attack. Problem is, he'll give up a gopher ball here or there, and lose command.

For the cost, okay. There were guys in the upper levels that really had no real significant future with the org, so clearing out a Junior Lake to deepen the setup rotation, even if Hunter is inconsistent, is a nice move.

I'll be mildly curious how Lake performs in Baltimore, namely to see if the statistical improvement this year was anything legitimate. If he ever put it together, he'd be dang tantalizing.

If lake ends up a .280/.380/.485 guy in baltimore it will go down as the reverse arrieta trade

Even if it does end up as a "reverse" Arrieta, okay. He wasn't going to get a real legitimate chance here anymore (in all likelihood), so if he stuck around, we probably wouldn't have known. Sometimes, you live with those deals, and we had to clear out some space.

I wish him luck. If he puts it together, he'll be fun to watch in Camden, as he could launch a lot of bombs there.

I would be more on board with this if he were described as someone who will kick teddy bears in the face, but I guess you take what you can get.

No one is going to miss Junior Lake. Archer on the other hand.

I don't think it'll shock anyone if junior carves out a nice career and is a late bloomer.

Nah. He's another Felix Pie.

the only comparison here is that they came up in the cubs farm system and they suck

pie was an actual prospect

also holy [expletive] i can't believe felix pie is 30. feel like i'm gonna wake up one day and addison russell is going to be 30 out of nowhere.

And in my opinion will continue to suck like Pie. Thus, he's another Felix Pie: An outfielder that wasn't any good in the bigs that we traded to the Orioles for a relief pitcher (IIRC). I've said nothing about their respective prospect values.

At one time Lake was considered better than Castro.
