Safe to assume everyone who wanted Fowler for 4-60 still feel that way? Or that he has least gets that from some team?

It hasn't been that long since this discussion so opinions probably haven't changed, but just checking.

I was always against it. I was also a fan of the Venable/Jackson route. I like Fowler, but only on a qualifying offer or at 12mil/year for 3 years max. Heyward is a guy I could deal with the Cubs giving $48mil/4 years. He has great defensive numbers and has a great eye. Doesn't really solve CF though.

He's going to get like 3-4xs that amount

I know there are much bigger issues at play here, but I just noticed Almora is at about 100 AA games with a BAPIP in the 260s. I know he's not a speedster or anything, but that seems pretty low for someone as athletic as he is supposed to be. Has this been explained by poor contact, or is there a chance for statistical improvement (back to just mediocre even) based purely on luck evening out?

I think it's largely due to the fact he puts the ball in play so much, often weakly, combined with not great speed (i.e. it's not likely he's going to rack up a lot of infield hits) that his BABIP will probably always be a bit low with his current approach (his combined bb/k% rate is in the mid teens in AA so he's putting the ball in play over 80% of the time).

John Baker has some ideas.

Not sure how that will help him come to any conclusions about Fowler.

i still prefer Fowler to Jackson & Venable, and would be more than glad to keep him if his recent struggles suppress his asking price to 3/45 or whatever
