So...they want a yes man as coach?

If they can magically stop tall people from having foot injuries, frenetic players from suffering fluke knee injuries, and manage to Jedi mind trick the best player of our generation into leaving the conference, that would be excellent as well. But that's all very reasonable.

I'm sure coaches will be lining up to interview given the Bulls' history with head coaches. That press release doesn't help.

If they weren't known as mettling backstabbers, they'd probably have the 2nd best opening after NO (simply because of Davis). It's a good thing Hoiberg is in bed with GarPax and so they probably won't have to see how much they've tarnished their name in the open market.

To be clear, I am perfectly fine with Thibs leaving, but I am annoyed at how they leaked that multiple Bulls players 'killed' Thibs in their exit interviews. I'm sure it was just payback for Thibs leaking info for JVG to share on the air (I don't believe for a second that JVG shared that info independently), which was also sort of shitty to do, but Thibs' was more political in nature than a smear campaign.

Fine with it. They want to play offense first.

I like him but it's probably time for a change.

why the [expletive] would hoiberg want to go there? i want to punch/puke.

Heard something that he wants to coach in the NBA to retire early. But he's so close to his family in Iowa, so who knows.

#Chicago #News Wojnarowski: Those Close To Fred Hoiberg Believe He’ll Be Coaching The Bulls Next Season: (CBS)... http://cbsloc.al/1FZgQqo

So, what kind of system/offense does Hoiberg run? What's he known for?

I liked Thibs, but at the end of the day I'm not sure how much coaches really matter anyways. Sure Thibs could get a Noah led team to overachieve in 13/14, but the hump to the finals is way more about the players you can obtain.

They can do something totally uninspiring like just promote Adrian Griffin and it will be okay if they can make a few creative moves in the offseason to improve the roster.

Of course I know of Doug McDermott! Hoiberg being hired by the Bulls would be the best thing to happen to McDermott’s professional career. I recall saying once to a coaching colleague that if every player played like McDermott, college basketball would be infinitely more entertaining. His movement away from the ball and ability to read defenders is lovely to watch. I’m not an avid NBA watcher, so I really cannot comment on why he hasn’t played much for Chicago to this point. I do believe that Hoiberg would find many ways to utilize McDermott. He’s the type of versatile and highly skilled player Hoiberg loves.

In general, Hoiberg has a shooting wing (Naz Long) and more of a slashing wing (Bryce Dejean-Jones) on the floor together. He uses “Pistol” action and dribble handoffs for the slashers. He mainly spaces shooters opposite of high and wing ball screens. McDermott is adept at using pin downs and flare screens. He can read defenders and curl and catch-and-shoot off screens that don’t involve the ball. I see Hoiberg using this skill as a weapon.

The best thing to happen to McDermott’s professional career? I could get used to that. And is there any world where you see “shooting wing” and “slashing wing” and don’t think that Butler and McDermott can fill those roles?

Coaches can matter. Look at Golden State. Curry was going to be a stud, but did anyone predict Kerr would guide them to 60+ wins in the West?

Damn near 70

I'm fine with it. I know it looks bad in the mainstream media but Thibs was a maniac that nobody in the organization liked. He had a 5 year run with much regular season success. I think we can find somebody else that can lead us to regular season success. Having 12 minutes in a winnable playoff game with 0 points was an embarrassment.
