And just to clarify, I don't think Forman or Paxson are terrible. They're not. They're actually quite okay when it comes to many of the other situations in the league.

The trade complaint fails to hold weight when you look into it even a little.

Kobe had a veto and the Bulls weren't competing against anyone else. Still at the end of the day they supposedly did reach a deal- which Kobe vetoed because it gutted the team.

When you look at what KG and Gasol went for the offers were competetive offers, but not the right timing. Stars don't get fair value for their teams and Hinrich/Nocioni/Gasol would have had just as many titles as Hinrich/Nocioni/Deng/Gordon. Both those guys definitely needed their other stars as well to win a title.

To potentially get an actual difference maker? While it was clear that guys like Deng and Gordon were decent, I don't think anybody legitimately thought they were a first or even a second option on a championship team. The reluctance to trade their own guys that they drafted for proven stars like Kobe and KG will always be in my mind when it comes to this regime.

As pointed out, Kobe vetoed the trade for him because it basically crippled the Bulls team he would be coming to. How many trades can you point to where teams traded role players for a huge impact player? The Bulls have regularly been designed where smart drafting and, especially, FA signing would have helped them most, not trades. If you want to gripe about their signings (or ones they missed), fine, but griping about them not "trading high" or not trading for big names is completely ignoring how those types of trades would have sunk them right away.

Does that seem a like too many years to anyone else? Maybe I am being unrealistic, but wouldn't 3 years with a 4th year option make more sense given his resume?

Sure but you're getting him to walk away from whatever is left on his Iowa State deal.

It's pretty much the going rate these days.

I'm still having difficulty coming to grasp with the fact that we dumped Thibs for Hoiberg.

Hopefully I eat those words in a few years.

My "excitement" is very sarcastic. I mean, I understand that Thibs and the team had issues, but Hoiberg is just very underwhelming to me.
