Locke won't keep us locked down today. He can't locate.

Locke won't be around long enough - 50 pitches through 2

Sheesh Coomer asks KW if he liked warm days to give him a chance to hit or cold days for better pitching. Erm, that 20K game was in April, hon.

It was in May.

Well, it was cold and grey (and a bit foggy too, iirc), and Kerry might have had a perfecto if Kevin Orie had fielded that one hit cleanly.

I want the 7th inning stretch guests replaced by Carey on the jumbotron, and Coomer replaced by Kerry.

Kerry's not trained for radio and is probably a huge meatball -- I'd prefer to not hate him.

I dont even know how to respond to everything wrong with that

I don't really have a good reason to believe that he's above the ex-player meatball archetype. If you do, please let me know.

Anyone else have an irrational fear of / hatred for soft-tossing lefties?

If Locke is a soft-tosser at 92-93, Hendricks is a little leaguer.

In my experience online every lefty who throws under 98 mph is labeled a soft tosser.

I really like Ron Coomer as a person, but man....the radio version of him is insufferable. Did no one train him on the basics?

I think he's fine as a color man, but he drives me crazy doing the play by play. It's like he's doing a trivia version of baseball where he tells you what happened from least to most important so you have a chance to guess.

It was like 70 degrees that day.

Wasn't Mark Grace his mentor?

He averages ~90 on his fb and his secondary pitches are a a 79mph curve and a 80 mph change. I'd call that soft.

I actually like it when announcers for my teams are giant homers. You can be intelligent/articulate/objective and still be a homer. You dont have to be like Harrelson.

I never realized the '98 Astros led the league in runs, makes the 20 K game even crazier

Well, [expletive]. Did I at least get the 20K and Kevin Orie things right? :-)
