I've kinda blocked out the big league club subsequent to Aramis' walkoff against the Brewers, until this year. It's nice paying attention to the big league club after a several year hiatus.

2008 regular season Cubs was some of the best ever sports to follow.

Once we started coming back against the Brewers in 2007 was great too.

Yeah, I know, it's weird. I remember in general how awesome the offense was in '08, & I can't help but remember the trainwreck of the postseason, but other than that?, I can't seem to remember any specifics. I guess the rebuild started for me before Theo's arrival. I have this vague recollection that I never felt the success was going to be anything more than temporary at that time

We can all blame me for 2009. Samm Levine always tweeted Cubs Win!! Cubs Win!! after wins, and on July 29, 2009 that particular win must have put the Cubs in first place , because I replied with something about being in first place and he DM'd me "Dude, don't jinx it!!" The rest, as they say, is history.

EDIT -

I just looked it up and that win actually only put them 1/2 game out at the time, so it looks like I'm an even bigger dope.

I was at that game. Randy Wells pitched maybe his best game as a Cub and we won 12-0. Fun day.

So was I. Went to the game where we beat Dusty on Sunday, the walkoff slam by Soriano and then another loss to the Astros. 4 straight games. 3 were awesome for their own reasons.

I just had stir fry for lunch, thus undercutting your stir fry for dinner last night.

My memories of 2009:

-That 3 game sweep over DeRosa, Wood and the Indians. I think 2 of the 3 games were late comebacks, and one of the games was won by a walk off walk. Also young Indian Luis Valbuena hit 3 HRs in the series.

-The Cubs running over Houston in late July/early August. In one of the games (that I was at) Soriano hit a walk off grand slam in the 12th inning.

-Getting destroyed by the Phillies in a series, with the Cardinals winning every game during the stretch.

Hmm that's about it. It was a lost year. I have a similar lack of memories of the 2005 Cubs, a similar .500ish team coming off back to back exciting seasons and headed for a 90+ loss season the next year.

I was at the walk-off slam game too (apparently half the board was).

2005 became mostly dead to me when Nomar tore his groin off.

I have no memory of Gorzelanny being on a decent cubs team

They traded for him that deadline. Came along with Grabow

For two guys who I can't remember who mostly took up some DL space. Oh, and some throw in low A guy. Who played in the all star game for us last year.

Yeesh, I thought Harrison might be in for a fall since he had such an anomalous BABIP last year, but he's fallen off a cliff so far this year.

We had to actually give you something of value this time after giving you garbage for Aramis.

No one expected that OPS or BABIP to stay the same. But no one predicted this fall, either. He's been hitting the past week or so, so maybe he's back to what he should be.

The thing that was amazing last year was his line drive rate. If he can get back to that, or even close, he can maintain an above average BABIP.

Was at that game, was a walk off wild pitch. Kerry Wood completely [expletive] himself that inning, convinced he threw it for the Cubs.
