Yea I found the pinching and zooming, or scrolling a ton in landscape annoying as hell on the old mobile platform. Maybe I needed a bigger phone or smaller fingers, but the readability/usability was way more convenient. Plus before Tapatalk was free it was a way better App and was actually really easy to navigate between forums compared to the mobile browser. In the past year or so Tapatalk became nightmarish to navigate.

Baez playing 3B in Iowa today.

He has been tearing it up. For those that don't follow the minors a ton he has made some clear adjustments as well.

- No big leg kick with 2 strikes (others have pointed out that recently has eliminated the kick early in the count at times too).

- More of a closed stance

- Crowding the plate

Those are changes in his mechanics but the guys that do the Minor League Baseball Podcast on MILB.com also noted that he is going deeper into counts as well (hopefully this points to better pitch recognition or at least a better thought process at the plate for Baez).

One quote mentioned during this 2 Homer game a week ago (not the 2 HR game last night) that he laid off two tough offspeed pitches just off the corner. The AAA manager even remarked the Baez of a year ago probably would have chased those. After laying off the two tough pitches he launched the next into the stands.

Last thing of note.. Bryant had a couple remarks about Baez today. Says the Cubs could definitely use a hot Javier Baez bat in the lineup. The more interesting comment was KB said they informed him that Javy will likely move around a lot in the field. KB said he is definitely up for moving around in the field if it means getting Javy's bat in the lineup. Looks like as most would expect with Maddon as the manager that it won't be a cut and dry change to Bryant to the outfield. You will likely see Bryant at 3B and LF. Baez playing 2b, 3b and probably a little bit of SS & maybe even outfield as well.

Here's the link to the article you're referring to. Video of Baez's 2nd HR last night shows the difference in his swing since last year.

Hm well one of Baez, Russel, or Castro has to play some OF to see guys moving around and we haven't seen any of that yet. Unless you want to give them, on average 25% of games off.

Rizzo has made the exact same changes this season. Please turn into Rizzo at the plate, Baez.

Some fans from the cubs.com forum are saying if the bat is good Javy will end up like Nolan Arenado at 3B !? Really his D is that good?

I'm not as plugged-in as most here but I don't think Javy's ability in the field was really ever a question.

well if it were to all pan out that would be seriously sick. that guy is one of my favorite non-cubs, he's always on the highlight reels.

I'm listening to the recent podcast by Brett and Sahadev Sharma and neither seem to think service time will affect Baez's call up. I couldn't disagree more, especially with how close that deadline is. No way we see him before June 11.

No, Baez is not going to be Arenado defensively, Arenado has been about a +15 defender in 275 games. That doesn't mean Baez can't be a well above average defender at 3rd though.

I can understand the thinking that it will not have an effect, but if he isn't up already is that not a strong indication that it is playing a role?

With his arm & SS range I'd bet Javy ends up very very good their though.

I'd think that has a whole lot more to do with allowing him more time to become comfortable and confident with the adjustments he's made than service time up to now. However, since he's proving to be pretty effective, now that it's close, it's certainly a big factor.

4 k's tonight wow old javy

It's like he's prepping for a return to the Cubs....

I kid, I kid

That said

So just compare this here

Addison Russell AAA .OPS .803 -->> MLB .OPS -- >> .731

Kris Bryant AAA .OPS 1.042 -->> MLB .OPS -->> .841

Javy Baez AAA .OPS .914 -->> MLB .OPS -->> ????

if you take the average drop in OPS for Addison and KB it would be about - .136

I honestly think he can perform as good as Addison but anyways he should be able to put up an OPS of around .770 for this team that would be huge..

that would make him about 5th best on the team..
