Oh give me a break. He's not comfortable throwing the ball to bases? American league pitchers have to field to you know.

Why didn't he throw over then?

In short, an abundance of caution. There were zero outs, he's already moving towards first, he's left handed so he has to wheel around completely one way or another, basically the same reason every 10 year old is trained to go to 1st in that situation.

He was moving towards third.

...

He was in no way moving towards third base. The opposite, because he was moving(stumbling, as Tryptamine notes) towards first.

How do you think that's even possible, for a lefty pitcher to field a ball on the third base side of the mound while moving towards first?

He fielded it on the first base side of the mound.

This strike zone is just absurd, for both sides. All over the place.

Seems like the ump likes the outside strike but he hasn't been calling it the whole time.

Based on Wilson's grasp of physics, I'm assuming he was thinking that the ball would have carried Lester to 3B if he had just let it take him.

No. The infield is flat. Gravity would have had no effect.

But seriously, the runner was 1/3 of the way to 3B. Lester had plenty of time.

Yeah, ESPN's crew says it's been consistent, but it has been the opposite. I have no idea when he's going to call that outside strike, and when he isn't. It has to be infuriating for the hitters.

I'm going to to assume this you intentionally being clever, because otherwise, holy [expletive], I need to go and fly off of a hill.

25 pitch, 4 hitter inning. Pretty good outcome if there aren't going to be any runs scored. Get Wainwright laboring and/or get into the underbelly of the Cardinals pen, their middle relief to start the year is not at all intimidating.
