This is all Baez' fault; we can't see normal struggle and development and for what it is thanks to him being a walking disaster.

The team is likely going to be plenty frustrating for stretches this year since the offense is mostly anchored by superpowered baby men who need to complete their developmental cycle in their rocket before crashing into a Kansas field and being adopted by a kindly local couple. It'll get better.

I blame Corey Patterson, Geo Soto, Felix Pie, Brett Jackson, and Josh Vitters. I still have hope for Baez.

But yes, I 100% agree with you're point. Cubs fans are ready for the new day, but a lot of them still fear the imaginary Baseball God who demands a sacrifice in the form of the career of every Cubs prospect who reaches the big leagues.

That is such an odd list to put together. If nothing else, Geo put up 10.8 WAR for us.

Soto did string together a few successful big league seasons. But he did sink like a stone a lot quicker than he should have. But what seperates our current crop from those guys is that with the exception of Patterson, they were never true blue chippers.

He's a catcher. You continue to have less concept of player value than a drunken newborn.

I understand that even on his off years, he was a plus WAR catcher. I also understand that when he burst into the scene the way that he did in late '07-'08, and then the '10 resurgence after the dissapointing '09, we were expecting him to give us several more years of the same. But I think you understand what I was getting at.

Is it out of the realm of possibility that Bryant's recent struggles are related to whatever's going on behind the scenes with the grievance [expletive]?

absolutely. it didn't bother him the first two weeks he was up, but now it does. clearly.

And we don't know what was going on with it behind the scenes now versus then. I'm not saying that he himself has a grievance. This guy's 23 years old and the toast of one of the greatest city's in the world, so I can't imagine him having a grievance over anything. But I can imagine Boras calling him every other day badgering him about God knows what, and there has to be some level of awkwardness going on between him and management.

Yeah, because it's in Boras's best interest to hassle his client every other day to the point that it leads to struggles on the field.

#Cubs Kris Bryant is batting .188 (6-for-32) with 1 extra base hit in his last 9 games. He was batting .409 before that

Remarkable that his OBP is still above league average for that span (.316 vs. .309).

I want him to hit home runs like everyone else, but I'm glad he's not trying to hit home runs. His patience and plate approach are awesome and I have no interest in him swinging for the fences just to get the monkey off his back
