WTF....The Daily Herald is letting Mike North write dumb Cubs articles for them???

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20150317/sports/150319106/

Did he really just say Bryant is being "babied" because his sore shoulder caused some missed spring training at bats? Holy [expletive] someone exile this man from sports.

He pretty much has been, which is why it was weird

If you read the info at the bottom, it sounds like North is going to be getting a platform with the Herald on a pretty frequent basis though.

North's column appears each Tuesday and Friday in the Daily Herald, and his video commentary can be found Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at dailyherald.com. For more, visit northtonorth.com.

Anyone who reads that and decides they want 'more' needs to have their web browser trapped at northtonorth.com forever.

he's on the outermost fringe of being a thing

has been making regular score guest host appearances for years, lobbied heavily to replace mannely, got passed up for a guy who has been out of town for two years and had apparently/allegedly been banished by CBS execs.

and that's the best the DH can do

That honestly read like a C- essay turned in last minute by an 8th grader. I can't believe Mike North is still a thing in Chicago.

He's really not.

seroiusly, though. i listen to way more sports radio than i'm willing to admit, i watch morons blather on about local sports on csn a few times a week, and i follow all of this stuff on the internet way too much too.

mike north has not been even close to relevant since 2009 when his webio thing fell apart. the fact that a dying second tier newspaper giving him some column is the height of his visibility is evidence of that, if anything.

I remember turning on the Score (I think on Saturday mornings/early afternoons) and still hearing North as recently as late last year. I figured it was just a once-a-week thing, but still, why would anyone still pay to broadcast him? I was convinced at first it was some kind of replay from ye olden days and then got really, really sad when I realized it was live.

Yeah, but that was The Score playing a Fox Sports feed. They still do that on occasion...sometimes on weekends, more often on holidays.

weird. ive never heard that but i rarely tune in at those times. kinda odd that they wouldn't have some cbs programming to put on instead.

That's what I figured would be on; I just wanted one of those highlight shows to get some quick scores and instead it's North slobbering all over the mic. Horrifying.

I'm so glad I don't have to hear about Andy the Clown or Al's Beef every afternoon when I turn on the score anymore.

I'm still trying to figure why you guys ever listen to sports talk radio. I mean, maybe just to laugh for 10 minutes, but then don't your ears start to bleed...at least figuratively?

My apartment in Chicago got terrible wireless and phone reception back in the kitchen, so if I was stuck back there cooking or cleaning I'd usually just settle for the radio. Mostly the news or NPR, but sometimes you want scores or, let's face it, to do a little hate-listening. But as soon as I was free from that signal deadzone? Forget it, it was like that garbage didn't exist.
