Also, now I want Pep Hamilton.

I'd rather bring back Toub if we're bringing back someone that's been here before.

And I'm not a fan of that idea either, necessarily.

Pep is a changed coach from those days.

He's young and charismatic and has a kick ass offense.

He has a kick ass QB and I think most are questioning who has a bigger impact on who.

I'm so bummed. There isn't a coach out that that I actually want to be the head coach.

Yep. I guess Bowles would be ok. But nobody I'm really rooting for at this point.

Bowles or bust.

No idea who the OC candidates would be.

There's some that still interest me, but based on the confirmed interviews its a little underwhelming. I think we'll hear at least another candidate emerge this week.

Bowles is the front runner at this point. Hopefully he'd get a good OC.

He has deep connections to the Parcells tree so I'd start there.

Im willing to go out a limb and say its a little of both.

However, the offense is Pep's, Luck is no Peyton Manning.

Parcells tree, Belichik branch?

He never seemed to have a great impact on other QBs he's coached.

Also specifically to you I'll say that based on what we know it's possible Pep would prefer the vast QB wilderness to Cutler...

Like I said, this is a different Pep Hamilton. He was a young punk that players didnt respect before. He's learned a lot.

He actually has a ton of playcalling and game planning experience for someone so young.

Did it end poorly for him and Cutler?

I'd rather see him get advice from Arians and the Tom Moore coaching tree. It would be nice to see Cutler in a vertical passing attack rather than a west coast offense.

I'd be interested in Shaw at Stanford but he has no desire to leave.

You shouldn't be interested in Shaw.

You shouldn't be interested in Shaw. Bleh.

Typically he's not what I'd be interested given his style of offense but there's not much here.

As I recall they did not get along and both wanted out of the "relationship".

I do actually think the things he's done to protect Luck would help Cutler. Play action, vertical game. However I'm not sure he's a guy who's gonna come in and get respect and manage all 3 phases. I suppose with the right staff I could get around to him.

The key to somebody like that is the staff around him. If he can bring along some more established assistants the leadership thing should not have been a problem.

Just bring in the best coach. Any decent coach can cater his offense to the player at least a little.

Obviously Parcells tree is more well known for D anyways. Bowles could very well go with someone he hasn't actually coached with before. After all Arians hadn't coached with Bowles when he hired him.

Has Pep gotten any interview requests so far? Obviously he hasn't been able to take an interviews but you'd think you might hear about interest if any team did have interest.

Raiders and Bills requested and/or already spoke with him.

@josephperson

McDermott has had top 10 defenses the past three seasons. Interviewed for Washington job last yr.

#Bears could also be a team that wants to talk to McDermott, but nothing set up yet.

Ugh sounds like other teams are more aggressive with Bowles than we are. I have no idea who I want if its not Bowles. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but this feels like its going to be a Dick Jauron hire...someone not to inspiring or in particularly high demand. Could end up working out though.

I guess there's still a shot we interview Marrone though. I know some people wouldn't agree but I wouldn't hate that hire.
