It's too bad Mason Foster isn't good.

good point

although I still think the Bears could benefit from added competence

Until he starts eating that deep dish and gets fat like Briggs.

Yep. Bears fans desire for the team to just do something is clouding the fact that Foster is mediocre at best. Nate Irving (former Bronco) just signed for 3 years/9 Mil. I'd offer that to Foster and Brandon Spikes to see who takes it first.

Theres almost certain to be a couple nice choices at ILB with our round two pick as well. I'd just resign Sharpton as insurance and go look elsewhere with our remaining FA dollars. Would like a CB and perhaps an OL signing.

In my completely lacking opinion as it comes to the draft; it looks like White has risen to somewhat of a consensus #1 at the position and despite Oakland's pass-rushing needs, they have a young QB in Carr in desperate need of a weapon. Simple choice IMO. I pray to football Jesus that Cooper falls to #7 (I would take him over White) and Pace runs to the podium.

From my understanding, a lot of that was due to his combine showing. Cooper has the superior tape.

This is basically exactly how I see it as well.

I don't think his combine should be enough to make up for the tape (and competition) difference- but it seems to have - at least from the media. White wowed with some of the measurements, but Cooper still edges him in a couple areas while still passing the threshold of elite athleticism.

6'1" 211 31.5" reach, 10" hands

4.42 40, 33 vertical, 120 broad, 6.71 3 cone, 3.98 20 shuttle

6'3" 215 32.625", 9.25"

4.35, 36.5, 123, 6.92, 4.14. Also completed 23 benches, 11.52 60 shuttle

Basically the only question Cooper left unanswered at combine is bench.

So Cooper didn't bench? Not a big deal.

I guess I would be fine with either, but I love the fact that Cooper has elite route running ability.

Assuming Fowler is gone at 7, I think you have to go with Cooper or Beasely. I didn't watch Kevin White very often so I don't know much about him.

I'm actually hoping Fowler is gone. I like him, but I like Beasley and Dupree more. Beasley is my #1 edge rusher at this point. My concerns with him were size and strength and he answered them at the combine and his pro day. He's the only guy of this group that actually has produced double digit sacks and done so in both of the last 2 years.

As for White vs. Cooper, I think Cooper is the better player and the better fit. Cooper is seriously one of the best route runners I've seen in college the last 5 years. He can run every route and has sneaky NFL deep speed. White to me is limited to go routes, comebacks, slants and screens. He rounds off routes and I think CBs can jump in front of him on out routes and slants. Cooper is most likely to make a Beckham Jr. impact as a rookie and keep it going. I don't really have a comparison for him, but he's as NFL ready as they come at WR and I'm not "gaga" about him in the traditional sense. Basically, I think he's a top 5-7 talent in THIS draft, but he's not on the level of AJ Green, Megatron, Julio Jones as legit generational talents. But that doesn't mean he's not a really good player.

He's basically those guys but not 6'3"+ 6'1" will do.

Agreed on Beasley over Fowler. Dupree and Waynes are my dark horses at 7.

#Bears are close to agreeing with DE/DT Ray McDonald on a 1 year deal, according to a source close to the team. More details to come.

not sure how I feel about McDonald... I mean, I know he's a pretty good player and a good fit for Fangio's D, but with his legal issues I feel he's one step away from Goodell bringing down a big punishment and I don't want to count on a guy who could have something like that happen.

I have to assume that as a one year deal they aren't "counting on" him and this is more of a flyer.

#Bears have agreed to terms with DE Jarvis Jenkins on a 1-year contract. It will be official after he passes his physical later today.

Bears signed DE Jarvis Jenkins, formerly of the Redskins, to a one-year contract.

It's no wonder Jenkins didn't draw much interest in free agency. A 27-year-old who offers nothing as a pass rusher, Jenkins finished 45th out of 47 qualified 3-4 defensive ends in Pro Football Focus' 2014 rankings. He's a little better against the run, but still received a negative grade in that area over 552 snaps last season. Chicago's cellar-dwelling defense didn't improve with this signing.

This will be a good test for Pace's scouting ability.

JK he's probably just roster filler

McPhee and to a lesser extent Rolle and Royal were fairly large deals. Foster likely will be too if he comes on board. Probably should get used to the bargain bin deals at this point in FA.

Mort says he signed

Assuming Marshall was dumped for character issues, it seems odd to turn around and sign this dude.
