Excuse for them not punishing him. That's a hilariously stupid conclusion. They didn't punish anyone for anything this year.

Except Cutler.

And Trestman and Emery and Kromer and I assume the other coordinators.

Who cares if he yells at Carmen? That's a dumb reason to cut him.

If you want to close your eyes and cover your ears and pretend everything else Marshall was involved with this past year wasn't a total disaster then yes, yelling at a radio guy is a dumb reason to cut him.

But that's a dumb way to summarize the marshall situation.

Oh, please. It was nowhere near a "total disaster," both given his own issues in the past and the larger embarrassment of the Bears organization. You just tell him he doesn't get to go on the radio next year.

He had an unnecessary press conference full of crazy about his past domestic abuse. Said crazy things on "Inside the NFL". Has challenged a fan to a fight. Bad mouthed Cutler in public around the same time Kromer did. Appears to be heartbroken over an obviously terrible coach that he could not have possibly had this great connection with. It may not be a "total disaster", but it's getting closer and closer to that every time he opens his mouth.

In the scope of the NFL and his own past that's all a blip on the radar (plus I love how you're trying to spin him being sad to see his coach go as making him to be crazy).

The guy has major issues, but THIS is the stuff we're worried about? Yeesh.

Him being sad isn't a big deal. Him being surprised about it and acting like it's the best coach he's ever had is a little nuts.

The most embarrassing thing he did this year was that bizarre press conference and literally nobody remembers it except for self-hating Bears fans. If you can move him because you can actually help your team by doing so or you think his talent is going downhill quick, great, but if you're moving him just because of his "embarrassing" behavior this year then that's just plain ol' meatballin'.

I would expect it to be a perfect storm of those things plus the possibility Marshall may not react well to the new guy coming in and trying to restrict his media appearances.

Christ, he's not the [expletive] Hulk; he's not going to flip out if they tell him to not go on the radio. I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap both him and Cutler's radio spots if both are on the team next year. Just spin it like it's a fresh start and all that crap and he'd be fine. Hell, we're having this discussion today because a guy ON THE RADIO ticked him off. Probably not going to be too hard to explain to him why it would be a better move to stay off of it.

Depends on contract language really. If they don't have decent clout to try and restrict his appearances, he may say thanks no thanks. Not react well doesn't mean he starts flipping tables.

All this media stuff is him setting up his next career, so there's next to no way you can cut him off from making appearances.

Oh well. We'll just have to keep clutching at our purses when he says mean things to fat radio loads.

If you're going to cut ties because he's not any good, but cutting an NFL player for saying weird things just bugs me, just like egtting rid of Cutler simply to get rid of him would bug me. I don't want these idiots to tank 2015 like you think they will.

Yea I wouldn't even be surprised if a certain amount of media appearances was a protected clause in a players contract, so unless there's really strong language regarding "comments damaging to the organization" or whatever, Marshall may not just give up his appearances.

Maybe the new coach really clicks and gets buy in, but even that a GM may view as tenuous.

Come on; because he gives what's probably in his head his best version of a diplomatic answer makes him nuts? Maybe he really got along with the guy.

He's a punchable radio guy, but he's not fat. Which really is the important part of this conversation, I know.

Clearly nobody is talking about the firings today as if those are applicable whether or not people were held accountable during the season. He should have faced something for that press conference and that he didn't is an indictment to me of how poorly run this organization was during the season, not because they were scared of him.

And you're right, I forgot about Cutler, though I'd like to think I pushed it out of my head because it was such an inexplicably stupid move.

That's a good point; I'm assuming Waddle isn't fat, too.

Though I refuse to believe that Boers and Bernstein are gigantic blubbery monsters. Please don't post pictures to the contrary.

They're not. Boers is really really weird looking though.

Spiegel is fat enough for everyone, though.

NFL players say the wrong thing all the time along those lines. Lumping that in with the genuinely damaged [expletive] this guy has dealt with and clearly still is dealing with as an indicator that he's "crazy" is pretty low.

Boers looks like a chimp. Very strange looking dude.

Spiegel has to be pushing four bills.

Actually, right now...Matt Spiegel and Mike Mulligan are really the only fat guys the Score have right now that I can think of. Plenty of fat producers, but host wise...not really.

Don't know the other stations hosts as well.

Which one is that? Does he shave with butter?

so, like, why isn't Terry Boers working on this day, of all days?

He's off all the time. Does a lot of the shows from his basement I believe. He's honestly semi-retired, and is around to make weird noises and be Dan's yes-man.

But Black Monday is like sarcastic radio host porn.
