Lets be honest. The problem with this team is like 70% the defense.

Kyle Fuller also plays very small. They need another corner, safeties, linebackers, and defensive linemans.

Fixed.

No doubt. Draft either defense, or O-line. That's it. The line needs more talent, and the defense needs players at every level.

I'd go 60/30/10 coaching/D/O

Not when this roster is built the way it is. The offense is supposed to do a lot more. They need to be elite.

Yes the offense isn't doing enough but its hard for me to look at the personnel and not pin it on coaching vs the players.

I was kinda responding to you, but more US. The coaching sucks and it impacts all units. As far as the units themselves, the offense deserves a lot of blame.

Keep hope alive for that top 5 pick. Go Titans, Redskins, Giants, etc

Our coaching staff will destroy most picks.

Fix the coaching now, before the draft

I wouldn't change a thing about the coaching staff right now. They will continue to lead us into the abyss, which is exactly where we need to be in order to secure a true impact talent through the draft. There would be literally no point in canning anyone at this juncture. That moment came and went with the bye week.

How about this for an offseason plan?

Draft:

Keep tanking to get into the top 5, draft Leonard Williams from USC, trade back into the late 1st Round (this year's second and third) to get Shaq from Washington (plus an extra 4th round pick next year).

Free agency:

On D, sign Suh, McCourty, and Tony Carter from Denver (3rd CB). Release Allen, allow Paea, Williams, Peanut and Briggs to walk.

On O, release Mills and allow Garza to walk. Sign AQ Shipley and Doug Free.

Probably unrealistic from a salary perspective, but I can dream a bit.

The offense hasn't scored 30 points in a game this season.

Yes, Ryno your offseason plan is so unrealistic. There's 5 teams with 10 losses so to expect any to go over .500 to finish is unrealistic (thus no top 5 pick). You probably don't have the cap space to get those three guys, and cutting Allen has zero cap impact.

I can appreciate trying to get two impact defensive players from the draft though you've put yourself in the position not to upgrade the offense at all, particularly OLine.

The Bears believe Brandon Marshall has fractured ribs and is having his spleen examined. Season might be over.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying the offense hasn't been a colossal disappointment, but a not-insignificant part of that disappointment has to do with the defense not being able to stop anyone, ever.

That puts a lot of pressure on the offense, and Cutler in particular, to be near perfect. Cutler's never going to be near perfect. That causes them to press, force plays, and make mistakes. It also doesn't help that, while the skill players are good, the line is not very good most of the time.

Fix the defense=more possessions for the offense, more margin for error, less pressing by the QB who already has a problem with decision making at times.

My rough count, shows 7 of Cutler's INTs and 2 of his fumbles have come in games that were already out of reach. I think his season would look a lot different if the defense was at all competitive against non-terrible offenses.

2 stats I came across this morning:

Cutler's YPA is 6.9, which is the the 3rd lowest among qualified QBs in the league, ahead of only Kyle Orton and Alex Smith.

Also before last night the Bears had only 36 plays that went for 20 or more yards, which is 29th in the NFL. I turned it off during some of the garbage time, but in the first 3 quarters I don't remember many 20+ yard plays, so I'm guessing that number isn't much higher this morning.
