Serious question. If Arkansas beats Ole Miss could they be the first 6-5 team ever ranked in the top 25? The power rankings seem to suggest that. Wow.

They could be, although it would be completely absurd.

LOL that is crazy to think about. If they beat Ole Miss and Missouri, I could see them sneak in the 22-25 range. Has there ever been a 5 loss team in the top 25 ranking ever?

Yeah I think its happened for like an 8-5 team in the post-bowl rankings.

Edit: Michigan finished 8-5 in 2012 and was ranked 24th in the final poll. South Carolina finished 9-5 in 2010 and finished 22nd

Not necessarily disagreeing, but are they not one of the best 25 in the country? Only game that was a bad loss was Georgia, and that was close at the end. Very near losses to Bama and MS State. It could be argued that the Hogs have been the most consistently solid team all season and has played toe to toe with anyone and everyone in the country.

But yeah, I do see your point.

Hogs have played well and anyone who thinks Bielema has done a bad job is just uninformed. They worry me a great deal, now and in the future.

The team that Ole Miss has played that is the most like Arkansas is LSU and the Rebels obviously lost that game. However, the reason Ole Miss lost to LSU is because Freeze went insanely conservative for whatever reason. For example, Ole Miss ran the ball up the middle on nine first downs in the second half for a net gain of 2 yards (we have scat backs and a questionable offensive line). Freeze was trusting his defense to win it for him and it resulted in a loss. I don't think he'll make that same mistake against Arkansas. I expect Ole Miss to pass, pass, and then pass some more. Freeze is going to live by Bo or die by Bo and these days you are more likely going to win by Bo. The whole "good Bo/bad Bo" thing is just a lazy media narrative from the last couple of years and isn't really reflected in the stats this year (he has ONE interception in SEC play as opposed to Dak Prescott, for example, who has 8 in SEC play).

There are also a couple of intangibles to note in that game. First, Ole Miss is coming off what is basically two weeks of rest (the Presby game was essentially a scrimmage). Second, Arkansas will be high as a kite and full of confidence after beating LSU AND they'll be playing for a Bowl game. That scares me.

I do think Arkansas is going to put up some good gains on the ground and will score 14-17, but I don't think that'll be enough points to outscore the Rebels. It'll also be interesting to see just how big of a loss Treadwell is to the offense.

So two Tennessee players have been suspended after rape allegations against them from an alleged incident Sunday morning. One is Michael Williams (a decent freshman) and the other is probably the best player on the team - LB AJ Johnson.

There are reasons to disbelieve the allegations (2 girls involved, but only 1 is pressing charges while the other apparently just went back home), but this sucks in a bunch of ways if it's true.

As for the game, I don't think Missouri is as good as their 8-2 record would indicate, but this is still going to be the toughest of the three winnable games stretch (SC, UK, Missouri). It'll be that much tougher if Johnson isn't available for the game.

If Dobbs can keep up the way he's been playing since becoming the starter and the defense can force Mauck into some mistakes, we have a shot. Ultimatley, though, I think Missouri wins a close, tough game. Then Tennessee becomes bowl eligible against Vandy.

OMC, I completely agree about the Hogs ability to get back up for the Rebels after the emotional win last week. What gives me encouragement is Bielema's ability this season to get his team ready to play each week after emotional games.

I think this game comes down to the Hogs D line and their ability to put pressure on Bo Wallace. This is the best D Arkansas has had in a decade with Philon, Flowers, B Jackson and Wise. They have to get OM off the field on 3rd down.

The key to this whole game may be the health of Rebel LT Laremy Tunsil. He is possibly the best O-lineman in the SEC (only given up one sack so far in his 21 games) but partially tore a bicep early in the LSU game (great timing). The offense is not at all the same without him, but he is expected to return for the Arkansas game. His impact, or lack thereof, will be profound.

Forecast for the ARK/Ole Miss game is ugly. Supposed to pour all weekend in Fayetteville, mid 50's and a 90% chance of heavy rain on Saturday.

I know the Internet cool thing to do these days is try to find any reason to go after someone for not showing the proper sadness in Internet posts regarding sexual assault, but I'm pretty sure Dew made it clear that it really sucks if these players committed a rape.

I think the traditional idea is that rainy weather helps a run and pound offense like Arky, but I'm not sure if that's totally true. As long as wind isn't too much of a factor, I think rainy conditions can favor pass heavy teams due to the DB's not being able to stay with WR routes.

Either way, I'm genuinely terrified of this game. If Ole Miss can get past the Hogs, I have little doubt they'll beat Mississippi State in Oxford. The home team pretty much always wins that game and I think Dak is 1) beat to isht now that the games are adding up (he is only averaging 71 yards his last 4 games), and 2) is wholly unimpressive against defenses that have a pulse. He has only played 3 teams that are in the top half defensively in the SEC and in those 3 games he has 5 picks. Ole Miss leads the SEC in INT's by a wide margin and I expect them to pick Prescott off multiple times. My point in saying all that is that if Ole Miss beats Ark and MS State, then they'll get to sit back that night and watch the Iron Bowl. If Auburn can manage to beat Alabama (sooo unlikely), then Ole Miss will win the West.

So ya, the Arkansas game is HUUUUGGGGEEE for us.

FSU is such garbage. They only have 2 wins against current Top 25 teams: #22 Clemson and #24 Louisville. The only teams they have beaten by more than 2 touchdowns are The Citadel, Wake Forest, and Syracuse. They have four wins that were within 6 points.

You are NOT an all world football team if you are just a few bad plays away from being 6-4 or 7-3 in that ishtty conference.

I'm not saying I disagree with them being ranked so high, because yah, they are undefeated, but jeez...

I'm not sure where I made light of anything. I stated the players were suspended, identified them for people who didn't know them and then said this would really suck for a lot of reasons if it's true.

It would suck for one reason, that people raped other people.
