I have watched about 4 quarters of Michigan FB so far this year. I still cannot name a receiver besides Funchess. I am not saying Gardner or Morris are any good, but I can tell from my MSU experience 2 seasons ago it is hard to have a decent offense without any receivers.

Thought it was funny when their fans cheered Gardner today. I bet they really miss Lloyd Carr now also. They couldn't wait til he retired.

The people who wanted Carr gone were sick of finishing 9-4 every year. I'd kill for 9-4 these days. Only achieved that once in the 7 years since he retired.

Auburn looked like [expletive], had several key injuries on defense and still beat La Tech by a score very similar to the Oklahoma - La Tech game, so the [expletive] knows..,

Bielma blew this one. He sat on the ball and tried a 44 yarder. Coulda iced the game with more aggressive calls. Then when he should have been conservative after the quick equalizing td he almost blew the game by calling 2 passing plays and gave the Aggies the ball back with 90 seconds.

Arkansas was close to pulling off a huge road upset and the. Needed to ice the game and instead he settled for a relatively long fg.

Horseshit. They backed away from the run when they were dominating the line, then became utterly predictable on 3rd and long. This is on the OC. We protectected our week secondary for 3 quarters and then we put them on an island.

Based in there being a game at JerryWorld and a game at Giants Stadium today, I predict that college football games will be played exclusively at NFL stadiums within 10 years.

Obviously this isn't possible, but we can dream.

Maybe one day, the Pac-12 will play a game between top 20 teams that isn't at 10 PM ET.

Yep, this is the week. Biggest one of the year. I don't even think you'll see a group of games this good championship week, because of some unbalanced conferences.

I never understood when [expletive] teams fire their coach this early. Why give the few recruits a chance to de-commit? Ride it out. KU would be smart to go after a great assistant who can recruit rather than mid majors and hope for a slim chance at a future Meyer or a bigger name with little substance.

Jake Spavital would be at the top of my list with Beaty as the OC. (both from TA&M)

I'm pretty sure I played football against Jake Spavital in high school.

Carry on.

It was dumb, although either way, you'll see recruit attrition. As for candidates...

I don't think there's any chance we'll go the retread route after Chuck's performance.

I also think Gill will have made them a little gunshy about the mid-major route, although maybe Craig Bohl would get consideration.

I think Beatty or Ed Warriner or Scott Frost or Tom Herman seem like where we might land, although Herman might not want the job, as it might be a career killer.

Beaty is someone who can recruit in TX, if they want to do defense, I'd look at Venables from Clem as well.

Either way, I'd look at it as if you hire someone who's successful in 3-4 years they're likely going elsewhere, like I view Stoops at UK.

Hudspeth at ULL will likely end up in a major conf. but I don't think its a good fit for KU.

They should hire Bob Stitt.

Seems like a step down for him.

Beaty is an incredible recruiter but even he would struggle to get players to KU.

No he wouldn't. Our recruiting has always been adequate. We're never going to compete with OU. We just need to beat out the ISUs, KSUs, Techs, and WVUs of the world. And then we need to coach them up.

We don't need to get 5* players, though that would be nice. Just 3* and a sprinkling of 4*--which is eminently doable at KU. Gill did it. Weis did it. The trick is getting the right guys and being able to develop them.
