Butch and co better have a good gameplan on how to slow down Gurley. Otherwise, Saturday could be a long day.

I do think we can be competitive with Georgia, but we're going to have to sell out to stop Gurley.

Mizzou has games against the 3 other East contenders to start conference play. 2-1 and they should be in pretty good shape, considering their West slate is a bit lighter than the others(as much as that seems to be possible with this year's West). Losing Saturday wouldn't be the end of the world, but it sure would be nice to keep a bit of margin for error by pulling this out. Can't say I'm terribly optimistic since the game is at SC and Mizzou's offensive line's complete collapse last week.

Wondering how many games PSU has to win to become ranked. I realize their 4 wins are against middling to crap teams (and this week is against a bad Northwestern team), but if they got 5-0, I'd think they'd be ranked just from attrition

SC mizzou in Columbia is gameday this week. Too bad mizzou lost to Indiana would have made for a more exciting game. But yea the SEC west is wide wife open.

Potentially will be ranked when they come out in a few hours.

The polls are out already. Penn State is 27th in both.

I'm hoping Kirk Ferentz doesn't do one of his weird Kirk Ferentzy things and starts the correct quarter back on Saturday.

It won't matter who's playing QB for you this week.

I'm really interested in the Arkansas/Texas A&M game. Arkansas got a really good chance for an upset now their D isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

It still sucks as their remaining schedule is just BRUTAL. @A&M, Bama, Georgia, UAB, @Miss St, LSU, Ole Miss, @Missouri

It depends on which Purdue team shows up this weekend.

It looks like the wheels are coming off in San Francisco, anyone think Harbaugh would consider taking over at Michigan?

Hub Arkush and a few other people are on record saying that they think it will happen and that there are plenty of people in the administration there who think it's quite possible.

Hope Charlie Strong goes on another player-suspending bender this week, resulting in us getting to play Texas' scout team. I bet we'd have a shot in the 4th quarter then. Edited by snoodmonger

man, i hope so

  • What’s your opinion of the spread punt formation vs. the traditional punt formation?
Hoke: “Uh, we don’t use it.”

Is there a rationale for that?
Hoke: “I think, you know … I’m more comfortable with what we use. That’s the rationale.”

    [...]
Hoke: "I've always been a pro style punt (coach). ... I really don't want to talk about it."

and then Utah scored their first points of the game on a punt return TD...with 10 men on the field for Michigan

I tend to think aTm will hang 40 on the Hog D, but there are reasons for optimism.

Even when they were pitiful last year, the Hogs held their own against the Aggies.

Ark is very confident after having steamrolled a couple of decent teams the last 2 weeks with a much improved passing game and a near unstoppable run game.

The Aggies have a sketchy run defense and a few long drives from Ark can keep the ball away from aTm.

The Aggies are still an unknown. Sure, they blasted SC, but who knows what SC really is. Lamar and Sam Houston or whatever were not good prep for our mammoth O-line.

I have no idea how this game goes, but I do see how Ark can pull this off.

That win is looking weaker every week that SC struggles. I think TAMU is a good team, but probably overranked due to the apparently inaccurate preseason ranking of SC. Since that loss, SC struggled against what might be a decent ECU team, looked ok beating Georgia and struggled against a terrible Vandy team.

Still a good win for A&M, but SC isn't looking like the sure-thing national contender they appeared to be before the season.

Woah. SC beat Georgia and ECU and had a bad game but still won handily at vandy. They ave up two special team touchdowns. But seriously ECU and Georgia give SC the best win resume in collage football, by far. ECU pounded Va Tech and UNC in consecutive road weeks after sC beat them at home.

SC is a very good team. A&M SC and Oregon are the only three teams in FBS with legit wins over an elite team.

So SC is very good or the elite team mentioned that aTm beat? Not really buying either yet.

I would put Va Tech over OSU and BC over So Cal as at least as impressive wins.
