Is it me or has Baez changed the pre-pitch bat movement? Before it was the Sheffield-esque back and forth, now it looks more up and down.

I knew it was coming, but Baez' struggling is bumming me out. And yes, 'struggling' for a guy who was 2nd in the NL in HR in August is relative.

I might be pulling this out of my ass, but it seems like he's been k'ing less and making more weak contact, and I think he went through that same pattern at AAA. K-crazy, then more weak contact, then rules all. Again, I have nothing but memory to base this on.

Noticed that too.

He's definitely getting pitched away. He needs to lay off and take some walks - Coach Garth

Baez looks awesome defensively. I should probably be more worried about his bat, but I'm not.

Just coming to post about his defense. Hes been really good at 2b. Pretty sure he'd be good at SS or 3rd if he had to play either full time at this level. Probably better than Castro at either, IMO.

If it weren't for Valbuena having a down year defensively(+0 at 3B this year after +27 and +18 the previous 2), he'd be right about 3 fWAR right now.

Is it just me or has Travis Wood really come around as of late?

Including today thus far, his August: 32.1 IP, 10 ER, 27 H, 2 HR, 25/13 K/BB

[q uote=ScrubMD]Why's Lackey trying to get his ass kicked? Just generally sad that he sucks?

Could get interesting if Lackey plunks someone or pitches inside - especially to Castro
