Lead off double followed by three terrible at bats. Making outs is one thing, but swinging at terrible pitches is ridiculous. It appears no one has a plan at all when they step into the batters box.

After 3 innings, Lackey was just over 60 pitches and Wood was in the mid 30's. After 5, Lackey at 76 while Wood can't make it out of the 5th and is close to 100 pitches. The "grinding out at bats" message doesn't seem to be getting through.

You're aware that two of the most patient hitters (Rizzo, Soler) aren't in the lineup, Baez and Alcantara are in their early 20s and have like 200 at bats between them, etc

Ok well let's just ignore all the extenuating factors. Boooooo 21 year old Baez with 100 plate appearances at the major league level, booooooo.

Would've been nice to be able to bury a slider on 0-2 instead of the 1-1 count he was given instead
