Actually 8:30 AM football is wonderful. I always envied the west coast being able to wake up and watch football over breakfast. If I can get my wife to take the kid out, I'll watch all day.

Yea I gladly shift football to as early in the AM as possible.

Morning football might be in jeopardy because of that oh-so-common cause of sporting event delays, a mother [expletive] volcano:

Iceland's Civil Protection Department said Wednesday that about 500 people were evacuated from the highlands part of the Vatnajokull glacier. The action was taken as a precaution following thousands of small earthquakes recently near Bardarbunga, a sub-glacial stratovolcano under the glacier.

UCF departs for Ireland Aug. 26 for its Aug. 30 game. Athletics spokesman Andy Seeley said school officials are monitoring the situation.

Iceland is separated from Ireland by the Atlantic Ocean and about 900 miles, but a volcanic eruption in Iceland could produce volcanic ash and potentially affect flights to Europe. More than 100,000 flights were cancelled following the 2010 eruption of the Eyjafjallajokul volcano.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Love waking up and getting right into the games.

A friend of mine (Penn St season ticket holder) is leaving Monday for Ireland to go to this game. Suck if it got cancelled or whatever.

If he can't have fun in Ireland he's doing it wrong.

Yeah, 9 AM starts are fun (5:30 AM for Notre Dame-UCF not so much) when they're random games but I'm not really looking forward to UCLA starting at 9. Also love that if Hawaii is playing at home, you can have a game starting at 9 PM that'll end around midnight.

Nah, he'll be fine. That was just his excuse for going. He actually played professional soccer/futbol in Ireland as a teenager. So he knows people and all that.

USC DB Josh Shaw allegedly saved his nephew from drowning at a family function Saturday and sprained his ankles doing so. I say 'allegedly' because Steve Sarkisian has apparently received a contradicting story regarding the injury and now Shaw (a USC captain) is unavailable to the media until the Trojans figure out what happened.

Dan Wetzel had the best line on the subject:

Dan Wetzel @DanWetzel

And USC may be trying to one-up Notre Dame's fake dead girlfriend with a fake drowning nephew? Now that's a rivalry

Well, this escalated quickly.

Heather Brittany @HeatherBrit

Sources: Josh Shaw was involved in an incident involving domestic abuse & jumped off a 3rd story window while running from LAPD. #USC

Heather Brittany @HeatherBrit

This just went from oh no to oh hell very quickly. #USC

It's one thing to make up a story about how you got injured when you just did something dumb while drunk with no witnesses. But the cops were chasing him? That's some next level stupid.

Yep. And it's also one thing to take some crime you committed and try to smooth it over in the public eye...but to try to turn it into some lifesaving heroic deed? Yikes, that's messed up there.

He does go to USC.

Not expecting too much from the Longhorns this year while David Ass is still the QB, but I'm hoping the defense is the best in the Big 12.

Charlie Strong's big chance to make some noise in recruiting is next year.

Ash will be fine as long as we can run the ball, I am more worried about buring Heard's reshirt.

I can see something similar to last season where ends up getting hurt later on in the season. I think the run game will be there, but I just really want the offense to be good again. That starts with the QB. I also hope they don't burn Heard's redshirt. Even though Swoopes has had his criticisms, I wouldn't mind seeing him out there either.

Also [expletive] OU. I hope we beat that ass again in the Red River game.
