Hell of a pitching day in TN

Seems like a double header should start earlier than 5est. Don't they usually have time between games? Wierd.

It was also weird to postpone yesterday's game after a brief rain in the early afternoon with sun shining and birds chirping two hours before the scheduled first pitch.

Vogelbach will be a professional hitter in the al if not the nl for a long time.

will be going to see the hawks play Salem-Keizer tonight. Taking the boy. Saw them play in Eugene earlier in the year. They were pretty brutal in Eugene, hoping for a better showing tonight. Will report back tomorrow.

.850 OPS is good in a hitters league right? Even if the power never truly manifests itself, he can be Mark Grace with less glove and be a pretty valuable piece anyway.

An .853 OPS would be 7th in the FSL. 2 qualified players have a .900+ OPS, and one of them is 26.

Mark Grace with less glove?

Darwin Barney is Javy Baez with less power, too.

But Grace hit enough to be an adequate DH.

Why avoid the obvious comp? Big guy who can't really stick in the field. Good approach at the plate. Looks like he should have a lot more power than he's showing...

Left handed Billy Butler.

I still think the power will come - it manifests late in a lot of players - if his peripherals stay solid. Now the lack of power may keep him in the minors as that really is far and away his biggest asset.

I seem to sense sarcasm but Dan Vogelbach will have accomplished a hell of a lot if he's ever as competent a hitter as Mark Grace was at the MLB level.

And I hate Grace.

Come on now Javy can hit outside of the power. Barney cannot hit at all.

Field conditions were too poor after the rain.

Butler had years of 25 and 30 homers in the minors and never had an ops less than .880 Lot of work to do to get to that.

He had 25 HR in the California League(the opposite run environment as the FSL) as part of a 30 HR season. Outside of that he didn't exceed 15 HR in a season. Playing in the California, Texas, and Pacific Coast Leagues on your way up is also quite a bit different than the Midwest, Florida State, and Southern Leagues too. Vogelbach still isn't quite the same caliber, Butler was a Top 25 prospect by the time he was MLB ready, but it's closer than a superficial look would appear.

My bad, I misread his stats. I guess that isn't as huge a gap as I thought. Although if memory serves, wasn't he drafted as a 3B meaning he was quite a bit more athletic than Vogelbach? I remember him "playing" left field at a few games I went to in Wichita.

Black just gave up a hr and another rope that hit the warning track in the first inning. Addison Russell has a very solid build. I was walking in to the stadium during his first ab but he lined out to left center.
