Dunston for Turner is an absolute steal, made less of a steal by the fact that the Marlins really have no leverage or choice in the matter.

They kinda do. Brett mentioned that depending on the outcomes of tonight, Cubs could lose a spot in the waiver order. Besides that, they do not.

They already made the claim. Why would the lose a spot? That seems silly.

If the Cubs won and the Diamondbacks lost, the Cubs would go behind them.

But you can only pull a guy back once, so basically all the Marlins could do is spite the Cubs by re-waiving him or releasing him.

Complaining about giving up Dunston is like complaining about having to give up a penny for something valuable you thought you were getting for free.

It's also possible Dunston could have been promoted. Hitting .378/.398/.500 since July 1. Whatever it is, he is no longer a Cougar.

Fair point, but I'd say that'd be one hell of a coincidence.

i get the possible slip in the waiver standings, and Turner's probably worth Dunston, but why did we have to give up anything? I've read this thread and i'm not exactly sure still.

We had to give up enough to make Florida not release him out of spite.

ok. Makes sense then. Hope bosio can get Turner's [expletive] in gear. I'm assuming this means Wada will be on his way back to Des Moines. Lets see how it works out.

Has anyone ever been pulled in the middle of a game to be promoted to a different minor league level?

"Here is literally a nothing player."

"Can't you give us something?"

"No, here is nothing."

"Ok, screw you. We will just start this waivers process over and hope you don't get him and we will still get nothing."

"Fine."

"Oh, and don't bother trying to trade with us again."

And... Giancarlo Stanton is a Red Sox.

The only thing is why would they take him out? Just let him finish the game and then promote him.

Yea not sure why anyone would think our front office would be eager to just try to dick over and piss off another front office over such low stakes.

I was higher on Dunston than most, so this sorta takes the wind out of my sails a bit. It's still a worthwhile swap, but I was hoping not to give up quite so much.

Between Russell not being untouchable and now Turner for free, I'm beginning to suspect some voodoo is at work as Epstein and Hoyer get desperate.

Not understanding. You think we're about to overpay for pitching, via trade?

No. He thinks Theo and Hoyer are pulling voodoo to get this [expletive] done.

No, I'm thinking they've found ways to mindcontrol other GMs into doing things they wouldn't normally do, like trade Russell-level prospects or give away 23-year-old league-average starting pitchers.

Damn. I've been programmed to believe its not possible Kyle could compliment the FO.

I compliment them all the darn time. I just don't absolve them of everything bad that happens under their charge.

Kyle is fair and balanced.

Just like Fox News. :)

I see what I want to see.

Seriously though, I could see 2 of Straily, Hendricks, Doubront, and Turner making our rotation. I think one is close to definite. If its 2, it'd be at both Jaxon and Wood's expense. Because I fully expect multiple additions, given our payroll.

I feel like that's really overstated

That was just at the beginning of the season when one of the prospects had an 0-4 game or something.
