I've said it elsewhere, but I wanted to say that this is the most excited I've been about a trade since Nomar.

Rich Harden probably ranks higher* to me. But, I love this move.

Been thinking a lot about Castro being moved. Didn't think it would happen at first. Immediately assumed it would be Russell or Baez going, but this kind of makes sense. I know some on here have talked about moving Castro for top pitching prospects, but would it be possible that the Cubs use him for MLB ready pitching instead? Just spitballing here, but would a Castro for Price one-for-one be something that a) makes sense if the Cubs can extend him and b) would be something the Rays would be interested in, given Castro's affordable contract?

Or would they move him for prospects? And if so, who do we match up best with?

@jonathanganz don't think there is any one minor lg pitcher in game right now worth Bryant or Baez or Russell.

Javy or Russell(or Starlin) to Seattle for Walker, Paxton, and Sanchez.

That would be a pleasant return for Castro.

I don't think Castro gets moved, at least not for a couple more seasons. He's too valuable to our turnaround, whether that be next year or the year after. There's room for all of them.

We don't need to trade any of them for pitching prospects. Screw pitching prospects.

I love Bosio but we can't just count on him to fix everyone.

Pirates could use a SS.

We can count on him to fix enough. Plus we have tons of relievers.

By the time these guys become FA's, the Cubs should be swimming in money. If they want to, they can get this group of guys together for a long time.

Basically add any one or two FA SPs from the not-Scherzer/Lester pile. It's not ZOMG no-doubt awesome, but it's good enough.

TIL Addison Russell is black.

TIL he is a legit good defensive SS. for some reason I thought his profile was similar to Baez.

Got home and went to milb.com to check the boxes, and saw the news. Wow. Addison Russell is better player than I thought we had a chance to get in a return for Shark. I think this clearly benefits both teams, but I love the return. I'll love the trade more if Hammell is re-signed.

And good for the A's, Beane really seems to be going for it.

I really hope it works out for both teams. We got great value, and Oakland has a bulletproof rotation for the playoffs.

I still want a sure thing before his arm inevitably falls off.

We won 97 games with a dempster, zambrano, lilly, marquis, gallagher/harden rotation. We don't need king Felix or kershaw, nawmean?

Not when we're scoring 32 runs a game

I wouldn't turn one down but I don't want to pay what it takes to get one, either.

But we're talking about "huh, that might be the reason we miss the playoffs by five games" kind of problems and not "start making fecal league jokes in the third week of April" problems.

32? why aim low?

We really need to find a way to get Joey Gallo. That would be hilarious.

One of the fake accounts tweeted something about Arrieta and Gallo and I almost collapsed.
