Any hints as to the PTBNL?

Law said its no one of consequence, to change the balance of the deal. Cafardo mentioned Raul Alcantara as a possibility. (TJS rehab currently, but their 3rd ranked prospect)

This can be taken 2 ways, I guess. Oak lands system is awful, maybe Law doesn't think anyone in their system is a player of consequence.

Or, Cafardo could just be searching for names and threw him out as a possibility.

Even if it IS Alcantara, it doesn't change the balance of the deal for me either. But I'll still guess its not him and some guy that's not going to be considered for a spot in our top 30.

Thanks. I remembered that Neil Ramirez was mentioned as the likely PTBNL almost simultaneous with the Garza deal. On a slow day I wanted some news.

Believe it was also first reported then that the PTBNL would be insignificant.

Does the PTBNL depend on the performance of Shark and Hammel or is that against the rules?

early on, weren't reporters on twitter claiming Alcantara was mentioned in the deal, only to clarify later it wasn't actually Arismendy, but Raul

Yeah, but I'm still unclear as to whether that was just the 12 year old(Murray?) throwing [expletive] up against the wall or not.

As for PTBNL's, I'm pretty sure there are deals done that performance dictates what list of players a team gets to choose their PTBNL from.

I think it all started when someone (Rubio? lol) pointed out that Alcantara was inactive that night or something lol

My thinking is that unless they're waiting on injury reports on Alcantara, they're simply taking their time scouring the lower levels.

This trade seemed like Oakland was hot to get it finalized, so they may have an idea on a group of players and just giving the Cubs time to scout

I want to say it's, like, mid-Decemberish.

Probably has something to do with when the Rule 5 draft is. When is that?

The Winter Meetings are December 7 - 11, so probably the 11th, since I think it usually takes place on the last day.
