After the announcers said this guy has thrown first pitch strikes to 15/20 batters and his fastball was at 87 last pitch, you could see that coming.

He hits better in the day time because he's white.

He and Gallo are in a league of their own. I really think Bryant should get some consideration for #1 overall, Ks be damned.

Kris Bryant......

You already know what happened

Holy crap. He's really going to get to 50 this year, isn't he?

Reached the halfway point in the halfway point of AAA total games (Bryant has played 72 games before today, AAA plays 144, though not sure what's left for Iowa).

Given that those who were ahead of him this year are either injured, struggling, or graduating to the majors (or likely going to be graduating to the majors), I think you do have to make a legit case for him to be #1.

For the big three at Iowa today: 12 PA, five hits (1 HR), two walks and only 1 K.

I guess I could live with that up on the Cubs.

Based on conversations w/ industry sources, my choice of Lindor over Bryant on #BPTop50 isn't crazy. #Cubs fans might not agree w/ that.

Bryant walked twice, with no Ks. Seeing the ball well. He's about to get hot.

And I actually like seeing Javy singles in the boxscore. Lets my brain think he's consistently working on cutting down his swing in certain situations, even if that's not true.

So Lindor, I assume, is playing elite defense still except he's regressed offensively from last season, and this makes him... better?

thinking in terms of WAR:

a .360 OBP / .525 SLG RF with a below average glove (-5) and below average baserunning (-3)

- is virtually equivalent in value to -

a .350 OBP / .375 SLG SS with an above average glove (+5) and average baserunning

His walk rate is similar to last year overall. He's whiffing more, but also has 2.5x the home runs as last year in 3/4 the PA's. He hasn't really progressed as a hitter, but I wouldn't say he's regressed, either.

I'm curious why you're giving him a below average glove in RF and below average baserunning. Was it purely for the exercise of finding an equivalency?

in short, because he's never even played there yet, he's not overflowing with athleticism and now teams are throwing more natural CFs like Greg Polanco and Gerardo Parra into RF, thus raising the bar

do you think he'll be a better RF than Nick Markakis? Jayson Werth?

and i only put a 3-run gap in baserunning between fictional Bryant and fictional Lindor, which seems more than fair to the former

A .350 OBP .375 SLG is just not a thing to reasonably project for a player. Look around the league and the closest you can come is guys with real power(Choo, Werth, Santana) who haven't hit for much power this year. Guys with .100 MiLB IsoP get swallowed up in this run environment. They can still be regulars, but they aren't abundantly valuable.

I went to my first Iowa Cubs game Friday. Baez went 1 for 5 Bryant 0 for 4 both had 3 k's. I will say that Baez's single had nothing to do with cutting down! Lol.

The only thing that salvaged the night was getting a bp foul ball. Then getting Bryant and Baez to sign it without trying. Sat first row and Bryant signed for everyone down the 3rd baseline and then Baez came over right where I was sitting and signed for people. Didn't move from my spot.

During my twitter stalking one day, I believe I saw Kris Bryant's girlfriend tweet about Bryant's dad being the hitting coach for both Bryant and Gallo at some point... Is this just a huge luck of having two beasts in the same area or should we be offering Mr. Bryant a contract?

Lower SLG and substantially fewer doubles to go with that uptick in HR. Is the Eastern League a better hitters league than Carolina League (where he spent most of his time last season)?
