I'm really hoping him, Hendricks, and Alcantara are all up from the ASB forward this year.

It's taken forever to get here and the plan is still dumb, but Bryant, Baez, Alcantara, Hendricks, Rivero, Vizcaino is pretty sexy for a "first wave."

I mean, not to start the whole conversation over, but if the first wave really does live up to the hype (and of course that's a big if) I'm not sure three seasons was really even close to "forever." Especially because if it's worth the hype, we are going to get the sustained success we have always wanted.

 

But, again, everybody feels the way they do and that isn't changing.

This. I hate yo-yoing guys like that. He's finally gotten over his BB (somewhat) and injury problems because he's in the pen. All you are doing by reconverting is begging for them to return.

I'll go against this when it comes to Grimm for some reason. I like him in the pen, but I'd give him another shot at starting. Guess I value Ramirez more as a pen arm longterm than Grimm and injury plays into it as well, I guess.

If I *had* to reconvert somebody, it'd be Grimm for the reasons you listed. But I'd rather just acquire enough pitchers we don't need to reconvert anybody.

Agree, almost solely for the injury concerns.

Reconverting? How do we know the plan was not to give Ramirez a little break coming back from injury? The Cubs don't really have a shortage of relief arms. They do/will have a shortage on starters after Samardzija is gone. I think Ramirez is most likely to succeed as a SP out of him, Grimm or Vizcaino.

When could he be getting a promotion? I'd kinda like to see it soon, but then I realized it would be to Daytona and he'd be pitching every 9-12 days and it would probably [expletive] him up.

When could he be getting a promotion? I'd kinda like to see it soon, but then I realized it would be to Daytona and he'd be pitching every 9-12 days and it would probably [expletive] him up.

I'd almost rather keep him in KC all year and then start him in Daytona next year. It's his first season in the US and he's probably with a host family. He might force the issue with his performance, but I think they'll want to keep him in KC.

That makes sense and seems completely logical. Ideally start him in Daytona next year and hopefully he does well enough that he can get up AA by about this time next year to avoid the rainy season.
