Is it me or does Javy seem to turn a bunch of double plays? Just looking at boxscores, he seems to turn multiple per game. I don't really know what that means, but my assumption are hands and quickness are pretty legit and will play well at 2nd, which leads to reasoning why the Cubs may be projecting him there instead of 3rd which is probably a bigger hole and seems to be the more obvious place to play him with his size and bat.

I'd be inclined to stick him at 3B regardless just to keep him away from the potential of Matt Holliday destroying him trying to break up a DP going hard into 2nd.

I don't even see a reason not to skip Bryant at Iowa except maybe get him used to playing RF.

Birmingham's starter tonight is Nick McCully. An argument could be made that he is the worst SP in the Southern League:

Year Age ERA IP WHIP H9 HR9 BB9 SO9
2014 25 6.95 44.0 1.705 11.0 1.4 4.3 3.3

I shudder to think what harm Bryant might visit upon this poor fool.

He could shut down the MLB Cubs though.

ETA: I predict 0-0, 3IBB, RBI for Bryant against this guy tonight.

So it's looking like both Jimenez and Torres will stay in AZ?

Yeah, it does. I guess there's a chance Torres could go to Boise but that doesn't seem likely.

Can't remember a guy skipping both the DSL and AZL. That'd be pretty crazy.

Profar went straight to the NWL.

Javy with a day off and Alcantara at SS. Interesting to think about Alcantara as a Zobrist type that may not have a 150 game home on the field. Would work well in the potential scenario where Javy, Castro, and Bryant are all on the IF and right handed. Valbuena mitigates a large part of that utility for now, but worth keeping in mind as different options shake out.
