Javy with a day off and Alcantara at SS. Interesting to think about Alcantara as a Zobrist type that may not have a 150 game home on the field. Would work well in the potential scenario where Javy, Castro, and Bryant are all on the IF and right handed. Valbuena mitigates a large part of that utility for now, but worth keeping in mind as different options shake out.

When all these guys get to the majors the Cubs are going to mash. I think Alcantara might be trade fodder though.

Frandy Delarosa started for the DSL Cubs today so it appears he has recovered from that nasty car accident during the offseason.

If there's a less inspiring band of offensive prospects than Kane County, I don't want to know about them.

The unfortunate side effect of using the vast majority of your valuable picks on pitchers outside the 1st round. There's no way they can do that strategy again in 2015 or the farm is going to be hurting badly for position specs in the long term.

They went heavy on offense internationally, though. There should be really good offensive prospects coming up through AZ this year.

Plus some older guys who will be in Boise this season. Tyler Alamo, Rony Alcala, Jeffrey Baez, Mark Malave and Gleyber Torres should all be in KC next year, with an outside chance we see Eloy Jimenez.

So it's looking like both Jimenez and Torres will stay in AZ?

Yeah, it does. I guess there's a chance Torres could go to Boise but that doesn't seem likely.

Eloy got demoted today to the DSL.

Arizona Phil[/url]"]In EXST Cubs roster news, RF Eloy Jimenez has been assigned to the DSL Cubs.

The 17-year old Jimenez (last year's top-rated July 2 international free-agent) hit 238/270/357 in 24 Cactus League Extended Spring Training games (89 PA), with 4/22 BB/K. one HR, five doubles, a triple, and a team-leading 16 RBI. He had a sore arm in Minor League Camp that limited him to DH duty-only until mid-April, and even then he only started eight EXST games in RF. No question his defense needs a lot of work.

But Jimenez caught fire at the plate on May 14th, hitting 360/385/640 over his final seven games (26 PA). He hit his only Cactus League EXST home run in what turned out to be his last EXST game (versus the Angels in Tempe this past Tuesday), when he drove-in four runs with a three-run HR and an RBI single.
