The question mark is either Wiggins or Waiters, probably Wiggins. It also probably doesn't matter who the ? are, the Cavs with LeBron and Love have a better big 3 and a deeper remaining roster than the LeBron-era Heat. The NBA is so silly.

Wouldn't Wiggins have to go to get Love?

Yeah, rumor is Wiggins + for Love. Also, there are rumors that LeBron has reached out to Ray Allen and Mike Miller to join him wherever he goes if he leaves Miami. Not sure how that works money wise in Cleveland though.

All the rumors I heard had Wiggins, Waiters, 2015 pick, and a couple other guys I didn't care about. They'd have to match salary as LeBron would put them at the cap. They don't have any TPEs do they? And the TWolves aren't doing a deal without Wiggins included.

GM in Cleveland doesn't even need to make calls anymore. LeBron's got it covered.

I thought Miller agreed to sign with the Nuggets? Allen would be a lock to Cleveland if LeBron goes there.

I've seen rumors of Wiggins and also rumors that Wiggins has been guaranteed he won't be traded. I don't really think Minnesota has the leverage to force Wiggins to be a part of the best package for Love, but the NBA is stupid so who knows.

Wouldn't both those guys likely be vet mins, so you wouldn't need additional space. Though they would have the RMLE so one could get 2.7. Maybe they'd have space to give the other guy something similar, no idea though.

What is the non Wiggins package that Cleveland offers that trumps anyone else's?

Not exactly what I was saying, but the Cavs have a lot to work from that has value if not a huge headliner(Waiters, Thompson, Bennett, a bunch of future firsts). In the worst case scenario you can certainly take your shot without Love this year and have him join in the fun next year, my point is that the Minnesota isn't going to get a player as valuable as Wiggins from anyone else, so having him be the sticking point doesn't mean as much(especially if there's smoke to the rumor that Love would be interested in an extension w/ LeBron in Cleveland).

I do not agree that 2014 Lebron Irving and Love is better than 2010 Lebron Bosh and Wade. Bosh is a fantastic player who was a franchise level stat stuffer in Toronto and a great two way player and is the GOAT at agreeing to completely sacrifice his only game and reputation to become the ultimate team player all for the sake of Building Lebrons legacy.

And I think we as a society are letting justified hatred of Wade color opinion of his game. I doubt Kyrie ever developes enough to put together 4 years of basketball on par with Wade's last four injury plagued, "declining" years. And going into 2010 Wade was in his prime and already one of the best guards ever to play. I like kyrie but he's never gonna be that good. His next four years will be better than wades next four but likely far from wades last 4.

This Cavs group has a better supporting group than the 2010 heat but is take the heat big 3 over the possible Cavs big 3.

This underscores how hard it is to craft a championship team out of a big 3. The Heat won 2/4 with an impossibly good big 3. And they got beat by a fairly pedestrian-level championship squad as far as championship teams go. They got beat twice by a hot hand and I think the bulls teams being discussed (while not being favorites to) could beat this Cavs team in an ECF.

@McGrawDHBulls

Hearing the Stephen A Smith report is accurate. Carmelo may have been leaning elsewhere, but regained interest in #Bulls.

#Bulls trying to figure out how to close. If Carmelo has been agonizing for more than a week, who knows where this will go.

Yeah Wade was clearly the 3rd best player in the league then (LBJ, Kobe). Bosh was easy top 10. This would be the best, a top ten (LOVE), amd a pretty good player in Irving, but not quite top 20.

Minnesota thinks they can get Klay Thompson and Barnes out of a deal (and they may ultimately be right). The problem for Cleveland if even if Wiggins today is more valuable than Klay, if you don't include him the rest of their assets don't come anywhere close. Wiggins becomes the sticking point even if he's the most valuable player Minnesota could get because the dropoff is pretty big after that.

Shouldn't this have been done already. The 3rd team should've already been lined up at the visit.

Unless they thought NY would do the S&T by themselves.

I'm 99% sure they at least unofficially have been in such talks for weeks. There's no way they hadn't at least put out feelers on this.

Case in point, I had seen some talks with Utah mentioned for a while now

Utah, Milwaukee, and Philly should all make sense and be interested. Though Hou-Philly reportedly have a Lin deal in place if/when Bosh signs there so they might be happy calling it a day on taking on salary after that.

Philly can take on a ton of money. They were talking about Amare.

Why do exciting player acquisitions always seem to turn out to be long drawn out ordeals for the Chicago teams I care about?

Peavy and Roberts were months of anguish with no reward

Soler signed and then didn't sign and then finally signed

I guess LeBron saga wasnt that long but it felt like it

Even the Wrigley Renovation has lasted literally years

At least when the Bears go after a big name it happens quickly and decisively.

I know they have a ton, but I was just saying they might be happy with not taking on anything more than Lin's $15 million (I know it only counts as like 7 or 8 but they still have to pay the 15).
