Which scenario would ultimately bring Kyle more joy?

Scenario A: This front office fails to make the playoffs before 2019 and everyone gets fired

Scenario B: The Cubs win the World Series in 2018

I have my guess.

B. Joy is always preferable, just frequently in short supply.

Joy being preferable doesn't mean you wouldn't get more of it out of A. Just sayin.

I still think the struggles of Baez are ultimately going to make him a better player. He obviously has some growing up to do. The whiffs are just a symptom of that.

I like Kyle, just for the record.

As for CJ, who knows? If he can get to 100 IP this year, maybe he pitches AFL or somewhere, to help him get to 120ish. If he can hit 140 next year, maybe he gets a 10-15 inning audition in the majors in September. He doesn't have to come in and be a 200 inning guy right off the bat, or even ever. No one here better be under the impression all these guys are panning out.

Unless they're injured in August, I expect CJ Edwards and Pierce Johnson will be in the AFL, making up lost innings.

Future Rotation

Wood

Shark or guy from return

Big FA signing

1 or 2 of Arrieta, Grimm, Hendricks, Jokisch, Rusin, CJ, PJ, Black, Pineyro, 4th pick in the draft

1 from trading off minor league parts-likely Alcantara, Vogelbach, Candelario, Villanueva, etc

adorable.

sucks, reliever, sucks, really sucks, really sucks, reliever, probably going to get hurt, mediocre prospect, and not even sure to be a pitcher.

Pray tell why that is? Is it verboten to criticize "the process"?

criticize the process in the major league forum all you like.

Some of us like to talk about the prospects and follow their development without being blitzed in EVERY THREAD with complaints about "The Process".

Nothing's stopping anyone from talking about the prospects. Most of these posts are talking about how the prospects are doing. People being alarmed at the saviors of the franchise struggling in the upper levels or getting hurt or whatever is a perfectly reasonable discourse.

YES.

Most of us were talking about how all the prospects had crummy Aprils.

The only person to bring up something non-minor league related, something processy, was whoever brought up the future rotation. So that guy's getting banned, the rest of us are cool.

Of course not. But there's a difference between reasonable criticism and literally every post being doom and gloom, in every forum and thread. It's so tiresome by this point.

Well at least you are literally pointing a realistic portrait of reality.

Always on topic, Kyle.

Everyone is miserable and hates our prospects now. This is glorious.

why the hell is that glorious?

Because in the absence of joy, you have to learn to revel in misery.

Please. All you've been doing is doombonering everything that's going on. Me showing a potential rotation isn't even about "the process" as much as it is trying to turn your doom and gloom on CJ into something that's not that big of a deal. There's plenty of negativity going on in here and NONE of its coming from me.

It was a pretty ridiculous rotation.

And I'm sorry, but suggesting that CJ missing a big chunk of time and failing to extend his innings totals this season is not a big deal is just naive. It is a big deal. It's not franchise destroying, but it is a big deal in the analysis of CJ's potential value to this team. The question with him has always been about stamina and his questionable ability to handle a starter's load. Dealing with fatigure now is bad. There is no reason to pretend that isn't bad news.
