Hey remember when Javy put up almost as good numbers at AA without a .420 BABIP while being over a year younger and playing SS?

And then turded out in AAA and didn't have Bryant's draft pedigree.

I wouldn't have shouted down anyone who said they liked Bryant more before the season, either.

Yeah, but he hasn't destroyed AAA in 50 at bats. It's time for the new toy.

Bryant's current OPS is about 100 points higher, and his OBP over 100 points better. I'm not trying to make that claim about their overall ranking(the entire exercise is a bit silly to me), but there's a gulf between what Javy did in AA last year and what Bryant has done this April.

.462 wOBA and 195 wRC+ vs .435 and 180 with an 80 point advantage (for Bryant) in BABIP. I don't think the gulf is all that large, especially not when you take into account position and age.

why did arrieta only go 2 innings?

I didn't find any mention of him getting hurt, so hopefully it's so he can pitch in Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Bryant's is going to jump a bit further after tonight(illustrating the SSS absurdity of the entire conversation), and 27 points of wOBA is more than the gap between Rizzo 2012 and Rizzo 2013. Bryant's also been a .325 hitter as a professional so I'm not all that inclined to say there's a ton of regression coming for that BABIP comparison.

That doesn't mean that this leapfrogs Bryant in any comparison of the two overall, but you don't have to think there's any change to notice that Bryant's been a deviation better in his limited AA time.

He threw what he was supposed to today. Planned short outing.

He did receive 34 votes for that honor on this site.

Is that a serious answer?

Yes.

Hopefully it's because he's been traded

I was at the Iowa game yesterday. Hendricks was sitting 86-88 most of the game. He gave up 4 hits to LF that would have been fly outs in most other parks. No clue why vitters didn't scoot a few steps back.

Baez just missed a HR before one of his K's. Hit it right down the LF line, easily 375+ feet, that was only foul by 5-10 feet. He didn't swing and miss a whole lot, and seemed to be pulling off quite a few of the pitches. I hope it's just a matter of him pressing some.

Alcantara was obviously stinging the ball pretty well. I was surprised that he was such a small guy...definitely a lot of room to put on some weight and muscle.
