If the reason you're worried about Bryant is Brett Jackson, you need a better reason.

The reason would be that he strikes out a lot and may have an exploitable hole in his swing. The scouting reports have said you can tie him up inside.

No [expletive].

I'm referring to comments like "oh man, Bjax had a lower K-rate at AA." That's a silly reason to worry about Bryant, especially after less than a month in AA.

It should be a *little* bit of a concern. We've got lots of experience with high-K% in the minors meaning holes in the swing that upper-level pitchers exploit with more consistency, causing a total collapse of performance.

But he's got all the traits you could want in a high-K player.

Bryant's K-rate doesn't mean he has a hole in his swing.

FWIW:

Jackson's peak: .274/.379/.490, 27% K%, 14% BB% split between AA/AAA

Bryant's 2014: .310/.461/.577, 27% K%, 16% BB% at AA

If Bryant's AB's had come in reverse order tonight, the only debate would be whether he's super awesome or super super awesome.

The debates as it is are "should be we be a tiny bit worried or not worried at all."

You shouldn't be hung up on Vogelbach's numbers. He walks more than he K's and he has nice power. He's a can't miss major league hitter.

I'd love to get his GB/FB stats.

We know he has some power, from batting practice and from some of the balls that he does hit over the wall.

But no ground balls go over the wall. Last year a high percentage of his hits were singles. (Higher than Barney last year, for context). This year he's been almost exclusively a singles hitter, 14 of his 17 hits thus far are singles.

So whether or not he'll lift the ball often enough to hit HR's, I don't think that's can't-miss. I think his power is often being used on sharply hit ground balls.

Wasn't he considered to have an "advanced" approach at the plate, and good pitch recognition, coming out of HS? It looks like in the videos I have seen In HS he had a lot more uppercut to the swing, and since joining the Cubs org has really leveled that swing out more.

Is it possible that the lack of HR power is a combo of hitting what he's thrown, combined with an organizational tinkering of the swing and/or approach?

Stanton's K rate in his first season in AA was 29%. I'm not too worried, although it is definitely something to watch.

he was 19 [expletive] years old, Bryant is 22...those two are not remotely analogous situations

Three of his singles during the hot streak the past two days were ground singles through the left side with the shift on.
