Michigan is one of the teams in the Big Ten ranked below No. 87 in Pomeroy (now No. 89). So they were already counted as one of the four/five bad teams. (As for six being pretty terrible, the sixth would be Minnesota (No. 65).)

 

Far be it from me to defend stringently defend Purdue in general, but teams can improve. They're up to No. 44. They're won seven of eight. Included in those are home and road wins against Indiana (No. 51), and home wins against Ohio State (No. 14) and Iowa (No. 32). December is a long time ago now.

I don't necessarily think the depth of the conference is an issue, there are just less legit contenders this year.

Last year the last Big Ten team (NW) was 131st, this year the bottom 3 teams are Nebraska (110), NW (122), Rutgers (203).

 

So beyond the top 50, Maryland and Rutgers were added, Maryland basically replaced Nebraska in the top 50, and Rutgers was bad like we expected.

 

Also is Ohio State really the 14th best team in the country? Geez, I would have guessed somewhere in the high 30's

Yeah, I am certainly not about to argue the Big Ten is great this year. It's not. I do think, however, it's pretty deep with solid, quality teams.

 

No, I don't think Ohio State is the fourteenth best team in the nation. I think they are likely underrated in national opinion, though.

Yeah, this [expletive] is out of hand.

 

And not only for the safety of it. This KU team is not great, and it's a testament to Self that they are still (at least for the rest of the week) a top-10 team. But they've lost six games this year, and the opponents have stormed the floor 4 or 5 times now. What do they say, act like you've been there before?

i assume they'll lose that one, but iowa st (baylor, @ kstate, oklahoma, @ tcu) will also drop at least one more meaning kansas will at least share the title with iowa st.

 

very happy kstate beat kansas yesterday, but now i'm concerned about iowa st's trip to manhattan on Saturday.
