I still do not understand the whole 3 votes thing.

As Tim and TT both alluded to as well, the big purpose is to get a better consensus when the votes get this divided. Let's say there are 40 voters and 15 people have Vizcaino as 13th, but the other 25 are scared off by the injuries and have him in the 20's. Somebody else could only have 10 people consider him 13th, but everybody else who doesn't has him 14th or 15th.

Which one would the consensus pick as the better prospect? Probably the latter. The 3 votes help makes sure that happens.

I get that, but I think it inaccurately saturates the voting pool. If Blackburn or Zastryzny wins this round, Vizcaino will have lost to someone he had nearly 20 or more votes than 3 rounds ago. And if people are selecting three people, and then posting that they like them in a specific order, why are they even selecting three people? If you like one more than the other, why not just select that one?

Because if you have guys 13-14-15, it's probably not written in stone on anyone's personal list. So, you'd probably be ok with your #15 guy being voted #13. But if you have a guy 15 and your #13 doesn't get the vote, you're voting for him again until he's voted for. Meaning you are NOT voting for your #15 guy until 13 & 14 are both on the list.

The MVP voting example is basically perfect.

OK, I am persuaded and backed off to one vote, Vizcaino.

I know he may never get healthy, I know that even if he is his delivery and stuff may not be the same as they were before, I know that even if he is healthy he may not stay healthy for long, and I know that even if he is healthy he'll be used in relief, not rotation. I get all that risk.

But there were reports of 98 and sharp slider this fall. So if he's not 100% now, but is coming along fine, and by McLeod's account will be ready for camp, I'm not that concerned that he's not ready today. Most of the prospects here aren't going to be winning games for the Cubs this year anyway; so the fact that Vizcaino won't be starting with the big-league Cubs this April isn't a downer. He's going to be on limited work this summer regardless. Whether his box scores run from April-July or from May-August doesn't matter.

His stuff was so good before that if he can come back, and even if that's only in relief and perhaps with slightly diminished stuff, he's still very valuable.

Like I said, I get that. I just don't necessarily like it. Basically Tim's mentioning of phpbb not having ranked polls is truly unfortunate. The board is kind of handcuffed by it in this situation. It would be great if we could attach a preference order.

I just switched mine to only Vizcaino as well. On my personal list, he's a few slots higher than he's going to wind up being here, so I'll help in trying to get him placed.

It's likely way too much work, but wouldn't this problem be solved if we actually picked an order for our 3 votes and then based rank off that? Find out who had the highest average rank among those who voted for them. Definitely a pain in the ass, but better than all 3 votes having the exact same effect.

No automated way to do that I think is the problem, hence pain in the ass.

But with how close it is, an run-up vote with only one choice may be in order.

Raisin, i have Pineyro 19th on my list. Any chance we can get him added to the list sometime soon? I saw some good scouting reports on his secondary stuff, and I think he's got a chance to be something.

Yeah, as logical as that would be I don't want Raisin to do have to do extra work for a tiny extra bit of clarity. I suppose runoff voting is the next logical step. I had forgotten about those.

...Give me any other names you guys want added too.

I'm a ways out on these, but some I'd like will be:

Tseng

Jose Paulino

Rosscup

Willson Contreras

I think Pineyro and Contreras both deserve to be "in the discussion". Personally, I doubt I put them top 20, but they certainly should be in the mix.

As for my vote, went with my standard 3 - Zastryzny, Ramirez, Vizcaino.

Blackburn

Black

Mine is the same guys in different order. Blackburn, Zastryzny, Black.

I guess Viscaino is going to go a bit before I have him. I have to know he is pitching to put him before these guys.

This is turning out to be more complex to fix. I hope to get it done tonight, though.

hey, way to go, Tim. These are fun. And a nice forum for thinking about and discussing guys who aren't all at the top of the discussion list otherwise. So, glad to see it's back.
