arodys would've been like number 8 but the front office straight up told us he's not healthy right now. he's out. i still say olt is impossible to rank.

CANDYMAN WINS

Pretty much this.

Candelario then Olt for me.

i still say olt is impossible to rank.

And yet here we are tasked with ranking him. I'll take Olt at 10 as the near-MLB ready, former Rangers high prospect who hopefully has his vision problems corrected.

Hendricks needs more love. I think he's more likely to contribute positively to the Cubs (now and future) than Mike Olt is at this point. Equally close to the majors.

I went with Vizcaino and Olt. I love Candelario - I think I had him at 8 during last year's voting - but he's got a ways to go and both Olt and Vizcaino have pedigree on their side despite lack of recent success.

I'm very encouraged that the team will have 3B filled through the system just depends on who wins the battle. Olt, Villanueva, Bryant is a pretty good base for the competition. Obviously lots of other possibilities/arrangements

First time going with 3 - Candy, Olt and Vizcaino.

Candelario could offer the most potential out of the group but also is the farthest away. Olt has a good shot of winning the 3B job out of ST and putting up 15-20 HR's with adequate defense. If it wasnt for his dismal year last year we would definitely be talking about him being a top 7 or 8 prospect.

especially considering the arguments for Olt are "maybe he'll be right, and hit .220 for us! there's some value in that"

while true, we know Hendricks is already right, and he'll probably have like a 4 ERA; there's value in that

Wells had a 3.54 ERA / 1.31 WHIP up to this point in his development, Hendricks is sitting at 2.42 / 1.04 right now

maybe their stuff was comparable, though that's impossible for us to judge- but their production hasn't been remotely similar

this looks like it's gonna be between Candelario and Olt and I believe Candy will probably win out slightly. But I had to vote Olt simply because Candy hasn't proven anything above A ball yet. Mike Olt is down but not out. But this is admittingly his last ranking on a prospect list be it boom or bust after this.

Olt, Candelario, Hendricks.

The first two I've been pretty sure of and I really like Hendricks but am not sure if he belongs here. I just couldn't bring myself to rank Viscaino ahead of him. That may change if V shows he is over the injury this spring and recovering his old stuff. I also was tempted to put Zastryzny there but just not comfortable with the short season of info on him last year. Can't wait to see how last years draft class does with a full season of work.

Heh heh, I like that. Olt is a huge Q. Candelario is a huge Q defensively, whether at 3B, 1B, or LF, and I'm not sure how great his power projects for LF/1B. Like them both, and hope they both work out great, but I'm going pitcher here.

Vizcaino-Hendricks-Zastrysny! I don't see Vizcaino's Q's being any more questionable than Candelario's or Olt's. And Stryz is a ways out with little record, but he's almost certainly a lot closer than Candelario, so I don't see why the distance should be held against him.

I'm also going lame and going with management: they had lots of discretionary draft money available, and a ton of time to prioritize pitchers with their 2nd pick…. and they loved Stryz. He's smart, he's got control, he changes speeds, he gets ground balls. I expect he's got a lot of untapped potential as well, not just a "finished" college guy. I think he'll utilize his cutter way more in the majors than he ever did in college.

I went with Olt and Hendricks. I wasn't planning on considering Hendricks, but after re-visiting his performance this year I saw a lot more encouraging things than I remembered. At his highest levels ever, he was more effective(2.00 ERA) and harder to hit(7.7 H/9) than he's ever been. His K/BB numbers nudged the wrong way, but he still has fantastic control, is hard to hit HR off of, and he works deep into games(6.0 IP/GS at AA, 6.7 at AAA). Olt goes with him because he's done too much at higher levels and there's a reason for his struggles that could disappear, leaving him very similar to the Top 25 prospect he was in 2012. Vizcaino's ceiling is too limited to include here, especially with his setback, and Candelario and Zastryzny haven't done enough at full season ball to knock off the two I voted for.

FWIW, my order was/is Vizcaino, Candelario, Hendricks, Z is probably on deck for me. I don't know that I'll have Olt top 15 (which won't matter because he'll go next 2 here).

For all the depth in this organization, this is when the interestingness of these guys plummets for me.

Bummer for you jersey. I kind-of think it is getting more interesting because the top guys were so well covered that there is a bit of a consensus. I really like getting opinions on the guys...oh lets say from 10-30 because those are the ones I haven't heard as much about and for me (not being a scout or wannabe scout) this is how I form my opinions on the rest of the guys in the system. What can I say, guess I need a real life.

It just seems to me that every guy at this point has a, "well, that's nice but he's 25" or "he's been good but his stuff is unimpressive", or "he's got some upside but has not done anything yet", or "but he's probably still injured/handicapped/dying". There's not a guy on the list that I think has to be voted here.

Yea, I get it. Hard for me too. I get influenced pretty easy at this point 'cause I'm not sure who goes next either. Next season some of these guys will pull away from the others though and that will be the real fun.

Which is fantastic because these guys used to be top 3 type prospects in the Cubs system. Fun that these discussions happen at 10 instead of 2 or 3 now.

The first bolded can be worked on/improved substantially and the 2nd bolded just means they are young. Both of those bolded can end up being top prospects a couple years in the future. That's usually what a lot of teams have, some top prospects and some future ones maybe. I just think we have a bit more of those type of guys. That's why our 11-30 should be kind of a fun list.
