Bears are 1-point dogs as of this moment.

Wait... really?

On the road, our D is running on fumes (something like eight injuries assuming Shea doesn't play), and and playing an offense that came up huge in their last outing..

Stacey is going to have a field day against this Bears D on the turf. Hopefully Kellen Clemens is Kellen Clemens and we can stack the box to stop the running game.

It's also probably worth noting that the Bears are 2-8 against the line this year. People have been losing money on the Bears, which erodes the support they get and skews the line away from them.

So as crazy unlucky as our defensive injuries have been, its even crazier to look at our offense, and despite Jay missing time we've been really freaking lucky, because we do not have any depth. We've basically used 2 WR, a TE and a RB to get all our yardage, with our 3rd WR making just enough of a dent to get mention, but not really be a significant part of our offense. So as much as we have many needs to fill on our defense, some depth on O is needed as well. Is there snap stats? What percentage of plays is Eben Britton one of our eligible receivers, because it really feels like a lot. And to go along with the lucky health, our OLine has started every game as a unit. So our one real injury is our QB and our backup has done just about as well as you could hope for.

Man, this McCown narrative is nauseating. Jason La Canfora just posted an article about how the Bears should consider letting Cutler walk and just roll with Josh next year.

He comes close, but is careful to couch his words with "might" "if" and "maybe" in all the right places. He also suggests the Bears might franchise Cutler and then see what he might get in a trade, which has been discussed here as well.

So, he's basically just re-iterating what others have already been talking about: Bears have a huge organizational decision to make coming up. It's not at all clear what direction they will take right now. It might be shocking to many if the Bears don't continue with Cutler, but it's got to be considered an actual possibility. Nauseating or not.

Every week McCown turns in a solid performance, expect this story to gain even more traction. Also, depending on what Jay is like when he returns, could either quiet this down or ramp it up even more.

Just out of curiosity, if we did tag Cutler for the purpose of trading him, what could we get?

i would check with St. Louis to see if they'd do Bradford for Cutler. I don't know how the salaries would work, but i think it'd be close.

Paea is week-to-week. Hopefully Ratliff is close to playing.

Ratliff did work on the side (as did McClellin) this week. This was also the week he was targeted for when signed. I'm hoping he and McClellin are good to go. Be a big boost.

I'm guessing Briggs out til the Bears get back home.

Stacking the box in the base D has been, somehow, worse against the run than playing Nickel, the last few weeks

@mikecwright: "If I just had a normal high ankle sprain, I wouldn't be in a cast." -- Jay Cutler.

@mikecwright: Cutler: "Like I said before if you’re listening, there’s a few other things involved [w/the ankle]."

@mikecwright: So Jay Cutler has hinted multiple times that his injury is a little more significant than what has been put out there.

Yup. He was pretty negative about the injury on the Jay Cutler show just now. Basically said there's something weird going on with the ligaments. They asked him if he would be back for 12/1 in Minnesota and while he wouldn't rule it out it seemed very very unlikely based on his response. They asked him if they thought the injury would keep him out longer than originally thought he said its possible.
