Week 2: Vikings (0-1) @ Bears (1-0) Noon CT, Fox/780

Its really just Peppers, Tillman and Briggs that are old though, right? And Briggs and Tillman played fine from what I saw.

Briggs was a non factor and Tillman is great as long as he can get back on field after his early injuries every game. Peppers is on vacation and there is no other talent showing up.

Briggs tied for the team lead in tackles, had a TFL and 3 deflections. He was not a non-factor.

he also had a QB hit.

He also got run over by a QB. And tackle totals aren't particularly meaningful.

Just trying to point out he wasn't a non-factor like you said. He certainly wasn't a non-factor to my eyes.

He played in the game, and therefore by definition he was a factor, I guess. But he's not doing anything special and he's not flying around making plays like he has in the past.

I don't think Briggs was expecting Ponder to come hard into him. I think he was expecting him to back off. But yeah, that's embarrassing.

And as great as Hester looked yesterday, he definitely isn't as fast as he used to be.

With the league the way it is, you ant even think about hitting a QB hard that close to the sideline. Smart play.

Who ended up forcing the AP fumble? Watching with no sound again, they seemed to credit Briggs right after it happened, but replays at a tough angle looked more like Nate Collins stripping the ball.

It was Collins.

Yeah he is. Made a big stop in the backfield vs Cincinnati. The play Right after he got ran over by Ponder he stopped him short of the 1st down (they got it anyway on 4th down). Pass deflections. They aren't as prevalent as they used to be, but its been 2 games.

You can tell he was dogging it in preseason, so I hope he is just still trying to turn it up. But he's still been good enough. Not great like he's been in the past, though.

That was Anderson on the Ponder stop... at least the one on the sidelines. I can't remember what the preceding play to the other 4th down conversion was.

PFF with Briggs as a Top 3 Performer at (+3.6)

but i heard he was a non-factor and got run over by a QB

More PFF Grades:

The three lowest grades went to Jermon Bushrod (-2.9) and Jordan Mills, Shea McClellin and Henry Melton (-2.4)

Yay?

The offensive line still did pretty well despite the tackles grading poorly. Cant say the same for the other side of the ball.

I do not believe he has had the type of impact he used to have, and PFF grades are hardly indisputable data points.

He also doesn't have a dominant defensive line in front of him, Urlacher next to him, and a defense that funnels plays to him anymore.

This is significantly different than calling him a "nonfactor"

Whoever is quoted there is not very good at counting.

They were tied for third.

Pretty awesome that we scored 31 while throwing an interception at the 1 yard line, going 3 and out at the 2 yard line before halftime (though I couldn't watch it because of Fox), and losing that fumble where we should have at least got a field goal. Though I guess you can't always rely on getting that kind of field position from Hester every game.

Was anyone else scared as hell when Long fell on that fumble return TD? Luckily he just slipped, but it looked like he could have torn a hamstring watching it live.

Tied for second, actually. Odd to mention 3 lowest grades when there were 2 grades and 4 players.

That's what I meant.
