OK, I'm seriously beginning to mentally pencil in some late-2014 Baez contributions at the MLB level.

Yeah, I think thats possible as well. In fact, as much as I was initially disappointed at our lack of activity today, keeping solid players on short term deals until some of these guys are ready really DOES make perfect sense once you look at the anemic FA class.

top prospect gerardo concepcion is making his season debut for the azl cubs.

I still hold out like 1% hope that he'll be (much) better after recovering from the mono (and I guess whatever else he might've had going on)

Is he really that much more of a prospect than Vitters anymore?

I guess, maybe, because there's always the hope that he magically turns back into what he used to be. But you could make an argument for Vitters.

Meanwhile, Baez is 14th in the Southern League in HRs despite missing the first 85 games of the league's season.

Anyone know if there have been any updates on Soler's return recently? He has to be close to coming back, or at least headed to Arizona for a while, no?

Grimm was... OK this time, at least a lot better than his previous start - 5 innings, 4 hits, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K.

I wonder why his walk rate has spiked so much this year. He was only walking 2 per 9 last year.

Hasn't he been trying to learn a cutter?

The reminder is appreciated because I had no idea who that was or where he came from.
