i'm big time on the villanueva bandwagon, at least as far as his potential to provide league-average production (taking into account his defense) at a cheap price for a few years.

My current top 10 is.....

1. JAVY(non believers, the whole lot of you! :D )

2. Soler

3. Almora

4. Johnson

5. Alcantara

6. Vogelbach

7. Candelario

8. Brett(won't hesitate to drop him soon though)

9. Villanueva

10. Paniagua(needs to pitch, but once he does I suspect he moves up this list)

As for Appel, Gray, and Bryant? Each would be 4th for me. And I suspect we'll draft one other guy that'll hit my top 10 immediately as well.

My guess is that Torreyes is about to go on a blistering month.

I hope so, 4/5 with 2 2B's today. With his age and peripherals, I wanted to add him to that 2nd tier of Alcantara, Johnson, etc. after his hot start, but he went and started sucking.

AA 1-2 with a BB.

I've seen "AA" a few times here of late, are we talking Almora or Alcantara?

That's what I was thinking.

I think I was the first one guilty of it today, but Almora was spelled out at #4 when I posted AA at #6 in a list of prospect rankings.

I can't be the only one confused as to how everybody was just like "ok" at this when it didn't actually clear up anything, can I?

Arizona Phil clarifies who is injured down in Arizona:

Arizona Phil[/url]"]Five pitchers were shut-down during the course of Minor League camp last March and haven't pitched since:

Marcelo Carreno

Gerardo Concepcion

Michael Jensen

Jin-Young Kim

Casey Weathers

There are a couple of others who were throwing at Minor League Camp, then went active for a while at EXST, and are now shut-down again:

Dayan Diaz (forearm strain)

Andrew McKirahan (2012 TJS)

Tthere are those who were active with full-season teams or at EXST and are now shut-down at EXST:

Daniel Adrian (knee)

Josh Conway (fractured elbow)

Ryan McNeil (May TJS)

Starling Peralta (unknown)

Dae-Eun Rhee (unknown)

Ryan Searle (sprained elbow UCL)

These two are throwing "sim" games and could appear in an EXST game this week:

Carlos Gutierrez (2012 shoulder surgery rehab)

Chang-Yong Lim (2012 TJS rehab)

The following position players are at EXST but are not playing in games:

Stephen Bruno (unknown)

Trey Martin (left shoulder surgery rehab)

Greg Rohan (back surgery rehab)

It is not unusual for pitchers who are diagnosed with elbow or shoulder injuries that do not require surgery or biceps or triceps tendonitis to be shut-down for two or three months, as happened with Ben Wells (sprained elbow UCL) and Zac Rosscup (biceps tendonitis) last season. That coiuld very well be the case with Carreno, Concepcion, Jensen, and/or JY Kim,

Yeah, Almora's my AA; didn't even think in terms of Alcantara. Not a nickname so much as an abbreviation.

I'd forgotten about Weathers. Mercifully. The last thing we need is a poorer mans Marmol.

And I'd just assumed that Gutierrez was let go after ST. Was somewhat intrigued by him, so good to see.

In 19.2 IP since being demoted, Takahashi has a 2.45 ERA 0.95 WHIP with 6/20 BB/K. I know he's a lefty, so he couldn't possibly anything more than a LOOGY, but maybe if they want to take a break from having Iowa relievers draw straws they can give him another shot.

Along with the homer, Brett went 4-6 tonight, no K's. K rate down to 26.1%.

He's hitting .228 on a .300+ babip... it's worse than I thought

Junior Lake with another good game, 1/3 with a double and a walk. He played CF again.

Carlos Penalver, Trevor Gretzky, Francisco Sanchez and Mark Malave all had multi-hit games. Loiger Padron and Alexander Santana gave up 1 ER in 4 IP.

Has Lake been in center in all his rehab games? Do you think he's just moved to OF, or what? I hope so, myself. I just don't believe he'll ever be adequate in the infield. Too big for SS, and he's been such a prolific error-maker for so many year, I just don't believe that's ever going to improve enough. Obviously not likely that he'll hit enough for OF, but that's more likely than that he'll play good 3B.

Heh, speaking of 3B, I noted that Mike Olt, who many posters were really sold on, has a .591 OPS with 39K/89AB. Ouch.

That was before yesterday. He's at .245/.327/.404 currently.
