@TomLoxas: Dbacks are giving Samardzija one more shot after losing out on Peavy. They have to know cost is prohibitive.

Give me Skaggs or Bradley plus Kennedy and we'll throw in Kevin Gregg's remains.

Bradley, Kennedy, and one of Holmberg/Chafin would be what I'd want/demand.

Skaggs, Eaton, and Kennedy

Skaggs over Bradley?

Bradley is the better prospect, but Skaggs is still plenty good and is plug and play. I'd take Bradley over Kennedy if I thought it were possible though.

EDIT: Bradley's control issues also worry me.

Archie Bradley has at a 10% shot, maybe 25% even, of posting a 2014 WAR as good as Shark. He'll be 21 in about a week. Having him for 6 years, 3 at league minimum, versus Shark at two relatively high priced arb years, followed by FA, makes some sense. You guys can equate it to prospect lists all you want, but Bradley will spend quite a bit of time in the majors next year himself, with an upside much higher than what Shark has done to date.

I genuinely love collecting prospects, but I think it would be stupid to consider trading Samardzija unless you're getting both Skaggs and Bradley. Edited by ScrubMD

and literally no downside at all whatsoever!

He's a pitcher. They ALL have downside. Including Shark on a longterm deal. Not to mention, no one's condoning a one for one swap.

Samardzija's outside the injury nexus and doesn't need a longterm deal anytime soon.

Cubs did not receive enough to trade Shark. Will explore extension over offseason, if Shark still refuses, a trade becomes more likely in the offseason.

Not that I think he is going to get traded, but the deadline isn't until 3. You never know when they might just get offered enough.
