Yes the MVP is. We don't even know what Rizzo is yet.

LOL you are so fail.

2013 wOBA:

Rizzo - .393

Votto - .395

Hasn't been in the bigs for a year yet. We don 't know exactly what kind of player he'll settle into. That's why he was available in the first place.

Oh come on, you've been around here long enough to know how badly this post is going to be destroyed, so why even bother?

What kind of player will Rizzo turn out to be? I already said this was a great deal for the Cubs, but it makes no sense to compare his contract or play to Votto after being with the Cubs for less than a year.

Rizzo, literally, would have to have a freak/debilitating injury to not be worth the contract.

That's what I love about these types of deals for us. He could literally become crippled tomorrow and we're just writing off 6 mil a year.

But if he were crippled before he signed the deal we wouldn't have to write off anything. Damn it, I don't know if we thought this through...

Guess you don't put any stock into his MLE's?

Chances are he's going to be an outstanding player, considering his age, makeup, and performance to date. You clearly don't understand player progression very well so you should stop commenting on it.

It makes no sense to purposefully avoid comparing his contract or play to other players at his position. That's like the basis of nearly all conversations about baseball.

Thats not a bad article, kind of surprising actually. But outside of Bruce(Miles) and Mooney, there's not a reason to bother reading anyone else. And I think that Sullivan, Levine, Rogers(both of them) wallow in so much stupidity, its no wonder the national media gets the majority of our scoops.

Love the Rizzo deal. Need pitching and I do hope they lock up Samardzija. I'm starting that think that Wood might be a part of the long-term future as well.

Sullivan, Wittenmeyer, Levine and Rogers are all terrible.

You don't do that with first year players as much. It's different if we are talking established ones.

On a side note, does this officially cement Vogelbach as trade bait?

Most likely yes, but you never know what will happen. Putting the NL DH talk aside, it is possible that somewhere down the road the Cubs might determine they want to go forward with Vogelbach instead of Rizzo. As with Castro's contract, Rizzo should be very tradeable if he performs anywhere near expectations. The Cubs Front Office is giving themselves enough flexibility that they will hopefully be able to choose the best of several options and then get something of value for the rest. Rizzo is most likely the long-term guy, but unlike Hendry's contracts, nothing is locked into place.

Rizzo's contract is completely irrelevant to Vogelbachs development or value to the organization. Does anyone really think that Hoyer took one look at Rizzos signature and thouht welp we're done here. Time to trade the rest of our 1b prospects.

Good point. Sign players to reasonable deals, and they're still able to be traded if you so choose.

The cost certainty with Castro/Rizzo should allow for a strong push in free agency as rumored this week. The payroll won't have to bloat too far out until the revenue is there to support it.
