I love when passive aggressive Theo comes out

“I haven’t talked directly to Tony about it, so I’ll withhold comment,” Epstein told Barry Rozner on The Score this weekend when asked about Clark’s comments. “But I didn’t know we needed Players Association permission to send a player to the minor leagues who’s not even on the 40-man roster and has less than 300 plate appearances at AAA. That’d be a new one to me.”

Sounds to me like he's at least a little nervous that the PA might push this one.

Sounds like the exact opposite to me.

He's laying it on awfully thick if he really thought it was a non-issue.

Sounded like a smart ass reply to what he thought was a stupid question/topic that he couldn't contain himself from making.

Great article about Vlad, one of my fave players ever. Gives me some hope for Javi:

Remember when Javy hit that warning track fly off that filthy Chapman pitch when it would've been like a game winning three run homer or something?

I told my wife before that series that my dream scenario was to see Javy make solid contact on a high 100+ pitch from Chapman and see how far it goes. I have probably never been so excited for a Cubs flyout as I was for that one as the dream scenario was so close to coming true.

I don't think this makes him look nervous that they will push, but I do think it is a preemptive strike of sorts to lay out the non-argument the PA has here.

Everyone but Brett knows Theo's comments are a bunch of BS. Bryant is an advanced college player who had destroyed every level of professional baseball so far. They are not keeping him down there for any other reason than to delay free agency. The Cubs are gaming the system because they can. Bryant and Boras know this too, but it is they things work right now. I don't blame the Cubs, but I don't like duplicitous comments either.

It's not about whether those are the actual reasons or not...it's that you can make a legitimate plausible case for the reasons he stated.

Yeah not sure why you're assuming Brett doesn't know...

I know that Brett knows but that article he wrote was so far up Theo's ass he could taste Theo's breakfast.

Also there is no plausible deniability on the Cubs part, but they are working within the rules:

How soon after Bryant comes up do they offer him a Longoria-type contract? And at what terms?

They'd probably offer him something like that this very instant if they thought there was a shot in hell he'd take it.

Did the Cubs spend half a million purchasing a supercomputer?

http://www.techgraphs.com/mystery-mlb-team-that-purchased-500000-supercomputer-remains-unknown/

We fit all the hint criteria: We won more games than the Astros, are a team that five years ago nobody would have guessed would want one, and of course we actually have a front office and budget that are conducive to spending that much on a supercomputer.

Interesting to think about.

A supercomputer would be a waste of money. It's something the Phillies would buy to show people they're into analytics.

I agree with the Mayor that the Cubs request is a 'nonstarter'. I already know what the neighbors think about extending the construction times as we already have fielded many complains about the construction and related noise.

As the Mayor notes, ordinances are in place covering the times that construction may take place. These were enacted and are enforced to ensure a good quality of life in all our neighborhoods. Every Chicagoan is entitled to a good night's sleep.
