Not wearing pants to work has gotten me ridiculed on occasion.

surprised it didn't get you fired.

I never realized wearing black socks with sneakers was a thing people didn't like.

I've never heard anyone complain about it before.

I don't complain about it but it looks stupid (to me) to wear what looks like dress socks with athletic shoes and shorts. But to each his own. I'm sure people think my Boston Birkenstocks look goofy with shorts.

I wear black ankle socks almost exclusively, never knew they looked like dress socks?

We have a faculty member that is young and charismatic and popular with our female population. Unless it's a special occasion or an important meeting, he pretty much wears shorts year-round because it's academia and nobody really cares.

Anyway, at graduation a few years ago I was standing with him in the lobby after the ceremony and congratulating some of our graduates. He saw it an occasion to actually wear slacks. An attractive student and her parents walk over to us and she says, "This is the first time I've EVER seen you with pants on!"

I shook my head and looked at the father while his jaw dropped.

I wore shorts and sandals (black slides) to my graduation figuring that what was under my graduation "robe" would be all but invisible. As the President Martin Jischke hands me my diploma, he says, "nice shoes."

Sharma landed a BP gig.

Good for him, even though he annoyed me recently by not being as convinced as me that the Cardinals trade for Lackey was a big win for them

interesting...

I just noticed that the Cubs are fifth in wOBA over the past 30 days.

Not a very good K/BB ratio for the hitters this weekend, though.

I also had it sorted by WAR (5th) instead of wOBA (9th)

buoyed in large part by Coghlan's .338/.418/.550 slash

am I right to assume Travis Wood is set to start against the Mets Friday night?

Yes - the other four are all pitching in this Milwaukee series.

David Garner ‏@DG_token16 · 52m

Chi-town what up!!!!!!

TREY LANG ‏@T23Lang · 15m

@DG_token16 so jealous!

Translation?

Even though that sounds like something you'd hear from a guy getting called up, I have to assume that David Garner is using his off day in Kane County to come into Chicago and maybe the Cubs game. And that Trey Lang is bored in Idaho.

There's no way they called up Garner, right? I mean, he's local right now and his stuff is probably good enough to make the pen someday. But his command is shaky when facing A-ball hitters.

I'd be pissed if I were Hatley.

no way

I vaguely remembered him being considered a hard throwing college reliever who was going to be a reliever as a pro and therefore theoretically a fast mover. But he's barely seen low A ball.

coming off the series of extra innings games it's likely they have considered some roster moves, but this guy has to be down the list.

They'd have to move someone off the 40 man for it, too. And start his option clock when they inevitably sent him down. Not to mention there being about 15 guys more deserving right now.

i don't think prospects usually say they are jealous when someone else gets called up. really just sounds like someone visiting the city for the day.
