Ferrell is the only threat to consistently make an outside shot, and teams are able to scheme accordingly.

Blackmon should help as a perimeter shooter next year. Jaquan Lyle would help, but it appears Kansas is trending there? If Vonleh were to somehow stay, I could see this team being pretty good, but if he leaves, there isn't much talent in the post behind him. Masquara-Perea hasn't really developed and Hollowell has disappointed this year.

Crean is a decent recruiter, but he isn't a strategist or game manager. He had all of the pieces of the puzzle last year.

Actually right now I think Noah is our best 3 point shooter. Which you don't want him living on the perimeter but he needs to get the ball more. I understand teams pack the inside to prevent him from getting the ball in the post as much but you can find other ways to get the ball in his hands. Also I think he needs to be playing 30+ minutes. Crean plays way too many guys right now. All 13 players saw the court yesterday. Hartman can't get off the bench and suddenly he is getting minutes in a game like that? I don't get it at all. I wish Tom would shorten his bench and have a consistent rotation.

Lyle doesn't even have IU on his list anymore. Crean wanted him to commit early and that didn't happen so I think that recruitment is over for good.

At this point I expect Noah to go pro and Jeremy to transfer. Next season could be another rough one.

Definitely. Rotation needs to be shortened. No idea why that #3 (can't remember his name) keeps getting minutes in close games. I understand he can shoot and handle a little, but he doesn't shoot or handle. Gives up the ball and passes on shots. Same with Hartman, who apparantly can shoot in practice. Hollowell probably shouldn't play much either.

Johnny Marlin! Who came to IU from IPFW! He is filling the gaping hole that Daniel Moore left when he declared for the NBA draft.

So how great is Illinois going to shoot tomorrow night? 42% from 3? Higher?

They'll be lucky to shoot 42% on layups.

With them having an off week, being desperate and Iowa's history in Champaign, I'm fully preparing for worst-case scenarios.

I predict the usual: lots of the ball rolling around on the rim, tons of missed putbacks, including at least 2 missed putback dunks from Ekey, Iowa in the double bonus around the 10 minute mark each half while the Illini don't shoot a one-and-one all game, all this despite the illini driving aggressively to the rim while Iowa shoots a bunch of jumpshots.

Despite this, it will be a good game with Iowa winning by around 10, mostly due to the free throw discrepancy. Groce will go ballistic again, but the refs will not change their game plan, even being completely transparent and laid bare for the world to see.

Man, the Carrier Dome is so incredibly lame.

OK, Mizzou fans. I am not anywhere close to saying you were right about Mike Anderson...yet. He is recruiting well and we actually have a point guard and some size coming in next year.

There are some disturbing trends I am seeing out of him so far though:

-his substitution patterns are...odd. Just as someone is getting hot he yanks them out of the game.

-we seem to play better with our 2 big men in the game at the same time. It almost never happens though.

-our full court defense is nice, but in the half court we seem to have no concept of rotating to the open man.

-I swear that almost none of our offense looks like it resembles a drawn play. Pass, pass, pass, contested shot.

Try growing up a Saints and a Cubs fan. When I saw this commercial several years back it summed up my sports world.

The saints who just won it all? Yeah that's rough.

When I was growing up as a Saints fan, we were the laughing stock of the NFL. As in, for our entire existence as a franchise. During the Mike Ditka era we had dueling Billy Joe's at QB, Tolliver and Hobert. That's gotta be a record.
